Well, this turn (T135, first in '44, right?) should see your ARM production increase to 55k/turn, so things might improve.

If you are into numbers: 98 x 250 x .6 x 3.8

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/23/2011 3:57:13 PM)

Turn 136. January 20 1944.

The whole front south of Moscow is ablaze as usual. But this turn there will be withdrawal...

Losses from the Soviet part of turn 136.

Peltonx -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/23/2011 10:01:33 PM)

Your losses that turn were not bad. You can live with that for a while.

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/24/2011 9:02:22 PM)

Turn 137. January 27 1944.

The Soviet thrust out of the Crimea has run into trouble. A Mech corps has been caught with its pants down by a turn of mud and is now isolated.

The central front after Axis moves. Withdrawal in progress.

You should consider to send the turn in which the Mech Corps surrendered to the tech forum.

From 15.4: "...The HQ unit must be within five hexes of attached combat units and be able to trace an indeterminate path of friendly hexes (my italics), which can be in EZOC, to those same combat units in order to commit support units during combat..."

Clearly, all hexes were not friendly.

Hmmm, nice catch! But couldn't they have been attached to the Mech Corps?

gingerbread -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/24/2011 10:24:20 PM)

I suppose they could have been attached to the Corps.
In that case, the structure of the list of the participating defending units leads to confusion, but that is not something which affects the result so nothing major. Maybe you could ask Gids where they came from.

Rather strange to see Russians still relying on I-16s, and a fairly early variant at that, + Mig 3s.

Hasn't Gids got an AP to spare as auto-update doesn't seem to be working?

Peltonx -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/24/2011 11:46:17 PM)

Only 113 turns to go [sm=terms.gif]

You're right, I didn't think of that! I suppose he is low on APs, I think he mentioned that in an email.

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/26/2011 9:34:07 AM)

Turn 138. February 3 1944. Blizzard.

The withdrawal on the central part of the front leads to comparatively few Soviet attcks and low Axis losses this turn.

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/31/2011 10:09:54 PM)

Turn 139. February 10 1944.

Losses are relatively low due to withdrawals, but not as low as I had expected.

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (10/31/2011 10:11:51 PM)

Furious Soviet stormtroopers push their way into Moscow. The Soviet capital is a gutted shell. Everything of value has been moved to the Reich or blown up.

Withdrawals are continuing. Map after Axis moves.

Turn 141. February 24 1944.

Losses seem light when looking at the losses screen. Suspiciously light...

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (11/4/2011 2:01:36 PM)

The commanders report tells another story. And this is just a portion of the battles shown! Oh how I wish that the losses screen were more trustworthy...

The South after Axis moves T141. The Crimean front is drawing off forces, the question is if it is drawing off more German or Soviet forces...?

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (11/4/2011 2:47:20 PM)

Fort construction is painfully slow these days. These forts have been there for months, and the forts are at level 0 and single digit percentages.

Attach them to a HQ with construction battalions that should help.

Thanks for the tip! They are attached to the OKH, and it has construction battalions, but you mean further down the chain of command?

Mike13z50 -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (11/4/2011 3:49:58 PM)

IRC, you can also attach construction SU directly to the fort unit, then once it gets to lvl 3 reassign them to another fort. When you disband it they go to the assigned HQ. I'm assuming you AP to burn.

Ok, Thanks! I will try that.

Tarhunnas -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (11/5/2011 9:49:48 AM)

Turn 142. March 2 1944. Snow/Blizzard.

Ooops! I hav gotten myself a little Stalingrad! I was tardy in withdrawing from the Rostov bulge and underestimated the threat of getting cut off! It was snow last turn in that area, which no doubt gave the Soviets a bit of added mobility, but now I have to try to counterattack in Blizzard[:(]. And I have no armor reserves in that area! Things are looking bleak. However, the Führer has designated the forces as "Fortess area lower Don" and the Luftwaffe has promised plentiful air supply. We'll see...

Map before Axis moves.

Triumph! With superhuman efforts, the XXXXIX Mountain Corps manage to open a path to the encircled units. But the danger is not over. Massive reinforcements of this sector are needed if the beleagured units are to be extricated to safety.

Balou -> RE: 1.04 The Wolf and the Bear (no Gids) (11/5/2011 3:48:59 PM)

1. Lucky you! Prior to combat, just looking at the unit counters, I wouldn't expect such odds.
2. Combat value of the 13 Rum ID greater than combat value of 50 (ger) ID ? Is it that bad in 44 ? (data from your combat resolution screen)

Tank or Mech corps are relatively "soft". If you have a little better than 1-1, you can usually push those back. Had it been a rifle corps with the same odds, it would never have worked!
