ORIGINAL: lycortas I like the new refit mode and people do need to realize adjusting TOE for the Germans especially is a useful feature. Useful, but can be a PITA at times. Micromanagement - even when necessary - is not fun. I would also like to point out that suggesting the use of the Commander's Report and that adjusting TOE is useful is a far better response to a complaint about micro-management than to say "lrn2play noob!" (with $5 words of course) as was one response. The refit mode revision does sound appropriate, and I had been assuming that I had to take my guys off the front to do refits anyway. And when I occassionally found them on the front in Refit mode I would think "blast! What is the penalty for fighting in refit mode anyway?" (Dammit Hanz, we're in combat! Put down the beer already!) quote:
At risk of labeling myself a Nazi collaborator, i (as a new player) am having problems doing much in 1941 against the AI as the AI does not do the retarded things that Stalin did, but i am forced to play with Hitler idiocy rules. Transferring troops from East to West all the time, no changing of factory productions etc. Agreed! Other than the first turn stupidity (No, no, ignore the massed German army on the front, they mean no harm) Stalin is suddenly not a complete loon, while Hitler remains one. What I am figuring is that for the first few months, throw caution to the wind, and send your panzers east, fast! Keep them supplied by air until the rest of the Heeresgruppe and supply lines catch up. On a side note - I find Eastern Front games curious because I can't really find myself liking either side. Of course the German is the most challenging side to play, so its fun. On another side note - Don't kid yourself kids and cats, this is not a 'simulation', its a game. Don't be afraid of the term, its not that bad. 2by3 is trying to be as faithful to the source as they can, but there is a lot of compromises made to make it something that can be handled by a lone human with no military experience at a computer. Alternately, I suppose you could claim that all games are simulations (Monopoly is a simulation of real estate, just not a very good one). And my final thought before I return to Lurk Mode - ITALY CAMPAIGN! I want this engine to be used for the Italy campaign! The full campaign is rarely modeled, usually just operations in the campaign, not the full 43 to 45 grind.
