in my 41-45 Campaign against Normal german ai
the Blizzard will be over soon, and it seems I can't reach talinn fast to prevent many AGN units(18A,it seems) escaping. So should I bomb the port to ash? If do that, when the port will be repaired after I capture talinn?

Thx

If your this far along in 1942, I'm not sure it would mater much if they get out or not.

ZZZzzz...time for Lucifer to graduate to playing against flesh and blood. Come over to the dark side Lucifer and stop wasting your time with the AI.

lol, my advice is to stop playing easy AI. Looking at the global map you're almost in Romania. Not much of a challenge to have the Germans this inapt is it?

It was actually much worse than Dunkirk. It was an unmitigated disaster. So if you make it like Dunkirk you've already done a better job. [;)]

By the looks of the little strategic map the German AI didn't do so well, you held them way west of Smolensk. Perhaps upping the difficulty to challenging is in order? IMHO.

Playing against a human is the only way to really really learn how to do warfare.  Playing against the AI won't teach you very much but it could be good practice at playing a mediocre player.

Playing against the AI is good for certain things. It allows you to learn the game and also allows you to practice certain things like getting your command structure straighten out and also gives you an idea of what works (and doesn't work) combat wise. For WITE, I think playing against the German AI is more useful as a Russian to get things figured out in the early going than playing the Germans against the Russian AI. The Russian AI with the ability to warp units that don't use rail lines and unlimited command points makes it really tough to practice things in a meaningful way as the Axis.

The best thing about the AI is that it won't quit on you. Sure playing a human is more challenging, but take a look in the AAR section to see how long a game between humans typically lasts. It ain't long.

I like to think the best thing about playing the AI is learning mechanics of the game and such.

ya, I know AI have some problems, in this game, the AI never willing to attack across river. So German never take puskov, Smolensk, zhitomir and Odessa, and hand me back vitebsk. Somebody said AI would do the same in all difficulty?
But before I vs a human opponent, I need to play with ai to learn, at least certain events, such as finn and Romania surrender, inf and tank corps built-up, etc.
So in this case, at least I can learn how to bomb ports and repair ports, right?

Of course you can learn many things playing against the AI. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Sure it might not give you as good a game as a human but it is definitely a good learning and instructional tool.

There are those that will swear up and down that playing a human is the only worthwhile way to play, but i disagree. If one wants to play into the later years of the war for example, then i would say playing the AI is the way to go, as it doesn't seem like humans are prepared to play much past the first year of the war.

Also if you are like me and are not consumed with "winning" and play more for the experience of it, then i find the AI to be most enjoyable in exploring different setups at different stages of the war.

When the AI does fail to satisfy i simply play head to head solitaire, like i did with my boardgames of old. That way i never have to wait for an opponent.

Anyway, i digress, but would like to say i'm very grateful for all the time and effort put into the AI for people like me.

I also think the AI in this game is very good and worthwhile to play against. You can vary your attack modes, objectives, etc.. I look at each campaign and scenario as 6 games in one. You can play against the AI in Normal, Challenging and Hard on each side, that makes 6 games, 7 if you play solitaire against yourself. That should keep you busy for quite some time.
