END OF TURN 6
DATE: 7/24/1941
UPDATED TO VERSION 1.04.36
ARMY GROUP SOUTH

Still in good supply, 1st Pz Group makes good progress against the hastily railed in Soviet reinforcements. Avoiding the strongly fort lines south, the mobile units race through the gap opened in the Soviet lines last week.

Meanwhile, west of the Dnepr, lack of enemy resistance means that great distances could be traversed.

ARMY GROUP NORTH

4th PzGroup continues continues it's approach towards Leningrad. At this stage I have decided to go for an direct assault on the city, instead of an hook. Preparations are made by transferring good leaders and support units to the troops in this sector.

Meanwhile, all over the front, Luftwaffe units below 50% ready status have been transferred to the reserve.

Still lacking fuel to make a quick breakthrough, the panzers of AGC instead try to shorten lines by advancing north and linking up with AGN.

A lone motorized division of 1st Pzgroup manages to make a breakthrough. Hopefully this will dislodge the Soviet defenders from their current defensive positions.

Progress is slow in the North. The Luftwaffe has been brought back from reserves this turn. Preparations are made to force a crossing over the Neva.

Ah well, Manstein is employing the famed Sir Robinsky strategy, thus ensuring I have impressive advances, but few casualties inflicted. You on the other hand, have inflicted horrendous casualties on my virtual soldiers...

Preceded by 4 heavy bombardments by the Luftwaffe, a strong bridgehead was established across the Neva by 18th Army.

The final objectives in this sector are Kharkov and Stalino. The attack on Kharkov will be spearheaded by 2 PzCorps of 1st PzGroup and supported by 6th and 17th Army. Stalino has been assigned to 1 Pzcorps of 1st PzGroup and 2 Corps of 11th Army. The remaining Corps of 11th Army is busy clearing out the Crimea.

Can you post the casualties please to compare. The pure Robinsky does mean leaving a lot of factories behind. How are you doing on that score?

In the north, things are progressing as planned. Despite heavy losses, I Corps managed to capture Pavlovo, thereby widening the German bridgehead across the Neva.

[image]http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/9458/masteint10n.jpg[/image]

In the center, progress remains painfully slow. Hoping to make more progress next turn, 2 corps of 4th Army have been pulled of the line, with orders to assist 3rd Panzer Group in it's thrust towards Moscow next turn.

Finally, in the south, the bulk of 1st Panzer Group is still stuck around Poltava. XXXXVIII PzCrps though, managed to break out, but was unable to reach Stalino.
Meanwhile in the Crimea, Walter Model is making short word of the Soviet defences. Commanding LIV Corps, his forward elements are just 20 miles of Sevastopol.
