Reedster -> Game freezes Windows 7 64 bit... (5/6/2011 5:01:57 PM)

Sorry to post here, but after upgrading my laptop I'm suddenly unable to play AE.

My original post is in the bug section under 'Any problems with 64 bit Windows 7'... basically my game freezes every time an air unit tries to bomb something (whether it's a ship, troops or airbase etc).

My new comp is an Alienware M11x R3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Nvidia Geforce GT 540M with 2GB RAM. Previously was playing v 1106i with my Vista and XP machines with absolutely no problem.

With the new comp however, during bombing attacks the screen/game just freezes. The music/sound continues but there is absolutely none of the usual bombing animation, whether it's air-land or air-naval attacks. I tried several times with the same result. Right-clicked the WitpAE icon and tried to pick XP and Vista compatibility but even that didn't work. For a lark, I tried to play the old Witp (non-AE) and exactly the same issue crops on (freezing during bombing attacks). Screen resolution is default 1366 by 768 and I tried changing to 1024/768 but that didn't help at all.

The fact that I'm facing the same bug in BOTH AE and Witp probably means that it's probably a configuration issue with my computer rather than the games?

Hope someone will be able to shed some light on my problem... Witp/AE deprivation ain't funny. Thanks!!

I don't mean this as a slam, just an FYI, but you'll get more attention if this goes into the tech support forum.

I would say it is not windows 7 64, as I am operating that OK.

I think then it is problem is probably with your graphics card.

So what I would do is; set up a profile for the game on your graphics card program. I would shut down all the bells and whistles, and run the game the same as one of the early civilization games.
