dominickpa -> combat stats and kamikaze (5/7/2011 5:02:13 PM)

What do the two double columns refer to in combat stats?

What combat effect do kamikzes have on land structures, such as fortifications, ports, etc.?

Could someone explain the difference between attackpoints (attack/defence) and hitpoints (attack/defence)? Thanks!

Tufkal2 -> RE: combat stats and kamikaze (5/7/2011 10:20:14 PM)

Sure.
During its own turn the unit is presumably "on the attack" and uses its attackpoints and hitpoints listed under attack. In the enemies turn the unit is presumably in a defensive mode and uses its attackpoints and hitpoints for defense.
Example: A light tank has attackpoints vs infantry as 1300/640, hitpoints 1800/3000 and ten attacks. So in its own turn it will (against infantry) do 10 attacks with a strength of 130 each and if some infantry unit tries to hit it it will use its 3000 hit point value.
In the enemy turn if it is attacked it will do 10 attacks with a strength of 64 each and use its 1800 hit point value.
Or put differently all other things being equal it is stronger during its own turn while being on the offensive then in the enemies turn on the defense....

Attack points are used to try to score a hit and hit points are used to indicate the toughness of the target.

Thank you! If you replace "1800/3000" with "3000/1800" and "2400" with "1800", it makes perfect sense.

Is the attackpoints number really the total sum of points used in attacks, and not the number used in each attack? I just want to be sure...

Tufkal2 -> RE: combat stats and kamikaze (5/8/2011 12:29:53 AM)

I agree there is one typo above: 2400 hit point value should be replaced with 1800 (will edit the message for clarity). So it should read
"In the enemy turn if it is attacked it will do 10 attacks with a strength of 64 each and use its 1800 hit point value."
However on the other value I think I typed them in literally from the game: Light tank has 1800/3000 hit points vs infantry. But there is an asymmetry in the display in the game:
Attack points are shown as Attack/Defense whereas hit points are shown as Defense/Attack...

And the attackpoints surely give the value for each attack multiplied with the number of attacks so it is a good indication of strength (even though 1 strength 100 attack will work differently to 10 strength 10 attacks of course...).

Thanks for the clarification regarding the combat stats. It would seem that Kamikazes have a poor defense against flak, but seem to have a better chance in completing their mission against surface vessels; however, cruiser stats indicate that they should be much more successful at shooting them down? [&:] Or, am I missing something in my interpretation?

Does anyone have any information about Kamikazes attacking land structures? Except for naval units, they appear to be no different than fighters
