I need to withdraw some air groups, there withdrawld button was greyed out. I moved them the eastern USA but ther withdrawl button is still greyed out whilst other groups in easter usa can be withdrawn. The groups are not fragmented. what could i be missing?

I asked the same question before and it appears some of them just have to be disbanded

Yes, some needs just to be disbanded

Another reason Withdrawals are not allowed is if it is a splinter group, with another part of that unit is elsewhere. Sometimes a single plane might have been left behind, and in this case, find it and sometimes you can disand that single splinter and then you may withdraw the rest of the unit.

Check to see if you have a button on the group screen call "OOB" or such. It is in the lower part of the screen.
It will show you if there are other bits of the group around.

Definetly not splinterd but i have seen in another recent thread that some have to disbanded to represent going to ETO. there only bolo's anyway so i dont mind.

Yes, mostly West Coast Units and if they are grayed out then you must disband them. However, if they have a good pool of trained pilots, you can pull all of the good pilots out and put them into your pools, and replace them with green pilots. Do this before disbanding.

In the Beta patch Michael graciously changed the wording of the "Withdraw" message to "Remove"...hopefully this will help to clear the confusion this message created in the past.

So now you will see "Remove by Apr 10, 1942" instead of "Withdraw by Apr 10, 1942"

TommyG -> RE: Can't withdraw airgroups (5/10/2011 8:42:44 PM)

Why not just say "disband by April 10". Wouldn't that be more accurate?

Well what do you do then if it needs to be withdrawn instead of disbanded?[;)]

Instead of creating extra unneeded code to deal with both situations...simply say "Remove"
