Topic says all. Where do I find a manual how to use this utility ? I have in my folders but no clue how to use it. I remember that I read it here somewhere but of course, nothing important is sticky here and the search function of this forum sucks BIG TIME. It always replies "nothing found" ....

help please

pmelheck1 -> RE: witploadAE (5/10/2011 7:45:11 PM)

I don't use it but the little I do know is that it must be run in a DOS window.  You can get the switches for the file with /?.  If your looking for specific use of the program you might try the folks in the mods section.  Someone their might have a much better handle on it.  I just play I don't use any help except for tracker.

Mistmatz -> RE: witploadAE (5/10/2011 8:06:55 PM)

It's been a while since I used it as basis for my current game.

I don't recall the options but you could try /h /help or /? to get help from the program itself and go from there.

foliveti -> RE: witploadAE (5/10/2011 10:10:03 PM)

YOu might want to try witp tracker which is stickied at the top of the forum.  I think the WitPload may have been a derivation of that program which never really worked out that well.  Tracker works great.

This is achieved by opening a command window in SCEN folder and typing
witploadae.exe /e /s1
(where the number is the scenario number)
open witploc001 etc with Excel...

Mynok -> RE: witploadAE (5/11/2011 2:49:04 AM)

I would also put in a good word for Tracker. And good to see you around again Oliver!

Thank you, of course I use tracker :-) since the days of witp :-) A tool which is very cool and gives great help :)

Thanks to Mynok for the warm welcome back and a huge THANK YOU to michelm who provides still great support - [&o]

you guys really rule !

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: witploadAE (5/12/2011 8:30:49 AM)

hmm, the .csv format seems to be unusable here in the german excel versions as you guys use the "," for it.

the data just shows  "Thahiti",0,1,0,9,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,2,7,0,0,9 etc. in excel instead of showing the data in rows and colums.

The reason seems to be that in german excel version we use the "," for seperating values (i.e. € 44,99 - in the US the price would be shown as $ 44.99 ).

The CSV files here in the office work OK as there we use the ";" to seperate the values instead of the ",".

brr. any clue ? I hate different versions - thanks to M$.

Bliztk -> RE: witploadAE (5/12/2011 8:55:35 AM)

Go to Data => Text in Columns

Here you have a wizard to convert from csv to xls

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: witploadAE (5/12/2011 9:02:44 AM)

Ah, I found a way. The easiest way is to change the language of the OS in the system tray to English (US) XP & office 2003 (the software here). Then do your work and after finishing, set it back to german (or what else you need).

This brings one question up : could the author of this tool (who ever ist is) add another parameter like /s for selecting the ; or , as the seperate option when creating CSV Files ? Would do it for international editors/authors much easier....

Mistmatz -> RE: witploadAE (5/12/2011 7:03:07 PM)

The even easier method is to use the import function instead of opening the csv file. This way you are being asked to specify your delimiter.

Reg -> RE: witploadAE (5/13/2011 7:29:22 AM)

Global search and replace the delimiter (,) characters with a tab character!! Works in just about any editor.

There's lots of ways to defoliate a feline .... [:D]

I'll look to add that as an option.

Wolfpack1 -> RE: witploadAE (5/14/2011 8:58:49 AM)

Oliver,
open the modified csv-file in the standard windows editor and search/replace all ";" with ",".
Takes even for the ship file only a few seconds.
Regards
Oliver

Visiting HSV today ?

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: witploadAE (5/19/2011 4:51:41 PM)

Hi there, I finally got it to work - with office 2011:mac.  with XP and office 2003 it was a horror.....sometimes we need simply to upgrade a bit here and there and everything will be fine [;)]

replaceing the , with ; doesnt work as Ecxel 2003 seems to have too much to replace (this was my 1st tought to do) .

after all : everything is fine :-)

and no HSV - no money left for those spacken.

michaelm75au -> RE: witploadAE (5/20/2011 8:06:18 AM)

I have updated the program to allow other delimiters to be used.
link to new program (post 7 IIRC)

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: witploadAE (5/20/2011 9:47:11 AM)

Oh, thank you michaelm ! I wasn't following the other thread - great great great support ! [&o]
the change you have provided just makes life easier for international users of this tool outside of the english langauge if they use an older version of excel and helps them to get started authoring of scenarios much easier [&o]

michaelm75au -> RE: witploadAE (5/20/2011 11:33:33 AM)

Hope it works out okay
