...thank you Matrix for this massive free upgrade.

Sure, "it's our patch" - and the patch we were waiting on years ago. But this is obviously more than a patch. You've basically gave us a new game for free.

There was very little wrong with Panzer Command:Kharkov - so the patch wasn't even something that was required to play.

So thank you. It's a very genuine offer from a very genuine company. [&o]

Yes indeed....amazing company these boys have got here.  Can remember the early days when Steel Panthers, Mega Campaigns and lets not forget the free versions of Pacific War and the War in Russia drew me in like a moth to a flame to the Matrix site......have never left and now check the site daily to see whats up.

Thanks guy's and hopefully other vendors see some of the things you guys do for the customer and try to copy your tried and true methods.

Now lets talk about releasing them Mega Campaigns as freebies...lol jk

Well at least cutting the price in 1/2 for the Steel Panthers:Generals Edition. Might get a lot of new players for $25 and all that comes with it.

I remember when there was nothing but spwaw to download here. Those were the days. They have come quite a way since. Its like a golden age of wargaming now.

Matrix has proved that indies can really be a serious alternative to big gaming companies.

Thanks Matrix!

Erik Rutins -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 2:17:33 PM)

Thanks guys, I'll ask one favor in return... give us some feedback! [:)] Post some AARs, let us know how you like (or don't like) the game, give us some feature wishlists, etc.

Regards,

- Erik

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 5:19:40 PM)

Here's a tad bit of feedback. I love the game. I have not been this stoked about a game in a long long time. Having never played PC before it is all a new experience.

As far as an AAR, the last thing I need is the whole community critiquing my every move and grammar. I'd sure like to read some though.

Great game overall. PC:O has rekindled a tactical fire that I had thought burnt out many years ago.

Mad Russian -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 5:36:27 PM)

If it was about critiquing your every move and grammar there would be few AAR's ever written. We are gamers too. We know how it feels to either do well or not. Many AAR's are written by people whose primary language isn't English.

So, been there and done all that.

If you feel like sharing we'll be happy to read what YOUR experiences were. They will in your words because they are your experiences.

There are lots of ways to share though and not everybody feels comfortable doing AAR's.

A simple game review or feedback of any kind is often just as insightful.

Thanks for being a part of the community. That alone makes it a stronger hobby.

Good Hunting.

FNG -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 6:16:53 PM)

Once I get the screenshots to work, I'll be putting together a 1st Panzer long campaign AAR (though less detailed than the one I did for PCK a looong time ago [:)])

Mad Russian -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 7:33:17 PM)

Screen shots are as easy as hitting the F8 key while you're in the game.

Good Hunting.

MR

FNG -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 9:05:05 PM)

Yeah, I tried that but it appears that there is no 'Screens' folder by default. I have created one but haven't tried to F8 yet.

Mad Russian -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 9:11:33 PM)

There is no screens folder until you hit F8 while in the game and take a screen shot. Then PCO creates one and puts your screen shots in it.

Good Hunting.

FNG -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 9:22:37 PM)

Ah OK, in my case, it didn't - no idea why. Now I have manually created it, I'll see if it works.

PDiFolco -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 9:35:03 PM)

Yes, I heartily agree and thank you Matrix and PzsC team ! I never had such a game at such a price [:D]!
Feedback for Erik : d/l is darn slow, like 200Ko/sec where my DSL has 5x that speed ! More than 2 hrs to completion [:(]

Mad Russian -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/13/2011 9:49:43 PM)

I hadn't taken any since I upgraded. So I did and it created the file for me.

Good Hunting.

Of course, we have to make a living.

Best game I've got in years!

TheGreatRadish -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 10:51:57 AM)

Thanks to all whose foresight and hardwork made this happen.  It's a fine effort indeed.

BTW, the mapmaker is really cool.  I've only been messing around with it but even for an idiot like me it seems pretty straightforward to use.  It could be the decisive factor in bringing a good number of new players by way of increased user-made content.

Dennistoun -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 11:13:53 AM)

Matrix Games will be around for a VERY long time because of its great customer service! Just a thoughtful, caring bunch of people. And of course, great thanks to the brilliant modders for their time and effort and skills.
Thank you. [:)]

junk2drive -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 1:40:35 PM)

Radish the MM is like the game, simple to learn, hard to master [;)]

TheGreatRadish -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 3:01:52 PM)

Yeah, I can see that the real quality maps take alot of work and skill.  It would be nice to think that maps will appear in abundance though, giving us plenty of options for random battles.  A bit like a certain other title I guess.

junk2drive -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 3:45:02 PM)

Some guys love to make maps more than playing a game. Hopefully they will jump in. I see Double Deuce lurking and a few other guys I know from other games.

You can put as much or as little time into a map as you like. A winter map of mostly an open field area with a few houses would take me less than an hour. It would take a beginner less than an hour on the map making part as well. What would take the time for a newer map maker would be finding what they are looking for.

That's exactly the reason behind the map making videos and my Pictorial on Map Making.

To help cut down on the learning curve. The term "steep learning curve" simply means poor documentation. We absolutely don't intend for there to be a steep learning curve using the Map Making editor for this game. Stridor started this project with a full head of hair. He now has tremendously less hair having me tell him over and over, "it's not simple enough". Back he would go and bring me another version. We'd start all over again and I'd tell him again, "it's not simple enough."

Finally, one day, he came to me and said, "This is as simple as I can make it." I think he's right. There is no other map making program like this one on the planet. It really can be so simple you click on the editor a dozen times and save a map that can be used in the game. OR you can spend days on your maps, like some people who will remain nameless....Mobius, and add so much detail that it becomes like a work of art.

Read through the map maker section of the rules. Open it up. Watch the first video and check the first part of the pictorial guide. You'll see how simple it really is. Follow along. By the time you make 3 maps there won't be anything you can't do or are afraid to try.

Video Tutorials:

Stridor made a program that is unbelievable in scope and simplicity. [&o] [&o] [&o]

Rick documented it all, both in the manual and in the video tutorials. [&o] [&o] [&o]

Put those two things together and you have a tool that even my 12 year old grand daughter likes to play around with and makes maps on.

It really is that easy.

Good Hunting.

Remind me to hide my online presence from now on . . . [8D] and yes, the game is downloading as I type this but slowly as the wife and both kids are all watching Netflix movies on their machines and sucking up my bandwidth.

Honestly though, one of the main things that triggered my purchase impulse in getting this game was the Map Maker (along with MR's partial ASL map thread). You'll be seeing me around quite a bit I reckon, kinda like during the SPWAW heydays. [:D]

junk2drive -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 4:06:47 PM)

I think you are going to wet yourself. Your wife will think you have a girlfriend from that silly smirk you will be wearing.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 4:10:55 PM)

Got a feeling I'll be camped out in the "Scenarios and Campaigns" subforum.

Waffenamt -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 6:03:22 PM)

I thought I'd jump in and offer my hearty congratulations and thanks to all involved in in the release of this major upgrade. I'm still savouring the tutorial on "medium" in the full package so I've yet to see many of the new features but I'm really enjoying this so far and I appreciate your amazing efforts. It's great to be back on the ostfront and I have no interest in visiting Normandy at the moment [:)] I'm a previous PCK owner so this is a fantastic offering and I intend to get fully immersed in this.

I'll share more thoughts once I get my arse handed to me in a brown bag a few times! It's the very least I can do besides offer a very big THANK YOU.

niknaks -> RE: I just wanted to say... (5/14/2011 10:17:25 PM)

yes guys a big thank you for all the hard work, and a big thanks for keeping the specs low so i could keep playing on my old laptop .any up a pbem pm me [&o]
