ORIGINAL: Chickenboy Interesting predicament. I can only pose a possible alternative, but don't know if it will work. Your travel hexes may be compromising the message, can you load your daihatsu / mother ship TF and sail to the hex immediately West of Pulao Kalao and THEN select the islette as your destination? Might that work? Yes, that's worth a shot. By that stage the Daihatsu's will be running on fumes and require a top-up anyway. quote:
ORIGINAL: Chickenboy As far as invading the plethora of added AE bases-yes, it is a headache, isn't it. For many it takes the better part of a year consolidating with SNLF and 'bitsa' IJA units in mini-invasions. I would recommend prioritizing those with adjacent dot hexes that also need to be taken, with the hope that those would be 'liberated' by proxy as well. I'm at mid-February 1942, and have tidied up N. Australia, the Moluccas and Lesser Sundas, and the whole of N. Guinea and the Solomons. But I bypassed Mindanao and the central Philippine archipelago, so there's still a shedload of landings to be done, with less than six weeks amphibious bonus remaining. [X(] A cluster of 2 or 3 Daihatsu TF's are fine where the island bases are densely grouped, but once you start going into the boonies at places like Groote Eylandte you really need the reach of a destroyer rat transport.
