Fellas,

If I'm using the mod (German 8 man/ Sov 10 man sqds), can I start a PBM game with someone who's not using the mod?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy,

I should probably know the answer to that, but I don't. I initially thought it shouldn't matter, but subsequently decided it might. So I don't know and I haven't tried it.

The game does a check to make sure that both sides are using the same units. But I don't know if that check is done at the unit level, or just for the factors that affect combat.

Maybe one of the other guys knows.

Thanks
rick

Rick,

A friend and I tested it last night and can play PBM with no problems when I stripped out the mod. With me using the mod and him not, we kept getting a "Player/Opponent md5-hash-keys are out of sync" message.

Interestingly, we were able to play the tutorial scenario without issue. We only had the problem with a scenario I created on my computer from a randomly generated game. We haven't yet tried any of the other pre-existing scenarios that came with the game so I can't say if it's the Tutorial specifically that avoids the problem or the pre-existing scenarios in general.

Andy,

thanks for the report. It sounds like to be safe, we should advise players to either both use the mod, or neither use the mod.

Thanks
rick
