fcooke -> Can't find PW data (5/31/2011 6:25:41 PM)

Hi - I've installed WITP AE on a new PC and I am getting error message in the subject line. Can anyone help explain/offer a solution? I would really like to play the game on my newer PC. New PC is running Win7 Home premium, 64 bit.

I think that file should be in the main install directory.  If it isn't, your install probably failed and need to reinstall.

Thanks Greg. Have tried re-installing, leaving all directory stuff in default but same problem......funny thing is I just also downloaded the beta to my older PC and I'm getting the same error message. I'm sure it's something really silly I am missing but I can't figure it out.

Are you running Windows 7 (or Vista)? Some people have reported that they have problems if they allow the installation to go to the default place (which I believe is something like "c:/programs/...") and instead they need to install it outside of the official "programs" area (maybe something like c:/MatrixGames/...).

I've tried all sorts of different paths now and still the same error message. There seem to be a lot fewer directories and files in the install on the new PC compared to the old, but not sure if that is supposed to be or not. IE - no SOUND or DOC or VIDEO folders. Maybe someone who has experienced this before can chime in, or someone from Matrix can steer me in the right direction.

fcooke

Had the same problem today. I deleted the install from the beta folder and reinstalled, it again went back to the beta folder. I went in and manually moved it to the patch folder and it worked for me
