T_K -> Branching research? (6/9/2011 1:45:59 AM)

I have AT and I'm wondering if I should get ATG. I spent more time modding AT than playing it... I remember I had issues with trying to branch tanks, i.e. what if I want two or more medium types available at the same time? Is this possible in ATG? E.g. I have M4A3 and I want to branch into M4A3(105), M4A3E2 and M4A3E8 from it.

It's been a while since I last started up AT so my memory on it is really hazy...

I believe that through the editor it is possible. I can't say for sure how. I think Bombur has doen something like that in his AI capable 1900 era mod.

Jeffrey H is correct.
In the editor is a feature where a new SFType cancels an older type. If you disable this, or leave the field blank, you can for example, have multiple types of medium tank in the field at once.

Itīs easy to do. You can create lots of items linked to a single research. I implemented this in my 1900 mod (actually a variant of the excellent tom weberīs 1900 diplomacy). There are some tricks you can use to create regime specific units even without the new ATG features (when I created my mod I didnīt know them, so I used the make obsolete bustton to choose custom units instead of generic ones for some regimes, the price I paid was that I couldnīt make some OLD units obsolete). You donīt need to use this, just toy with the PeopleGroup must own to produce button.
