keoman -> Error 486 (7/5/2011 8:08:37 PM)

When I try to generate a scenario or start a campaign I get and
error 486 message and the game crashes to the start screen. Any idea of a fix? Happens in all Fronts, East West and Japan. I just purchased so am running v. 1.04. Am running on Windows 7.

This just happened to me too mate. I just upgraded to Win7 and am in the middle of a MP campaign PBEM.

I hope I can get a few answers quicker than you've been waiting for yours!

Have you made sure to run the game in compatibility mode with Win XP?

Jason Petho -> RE: Error 486 (7/21/2011 4:30:22 PM)

From a previous post on the matter:

The Privilege Level under the Compatibility tab must also be set to "Run this program as an administrator."

Jason:

Need some trouble shooting:

Just "upgraded" from a WIN XP to WIN 7 PC... and am receiving the dreaded Error 486 message.

Here's what I have tried:

1. Right clicked CS icon on desktop
2. Than, Properties --> Compatibility Mode --> Unclick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" --> Privilege level click on "Run the program as an administrator"

But still receiving Error 486.

Any suggestions / assistance would be greatly appreciated! [&:]

Not sure, but you may need to reinstall! I had my computer fixed last year, reinstalled win xp, ran into that. Not positive, but it's worth a shot, I think this error refers to a missing DLL, and is most likely caused because of registry changes. A reinstall should do it!!

Hey Mike!

I followed your reinstall advice... and it worked! [:)]

EF, WF, and RS working correctly.

Now... can you or another player refresh my memory? Where in the program can I reference the current version I am running? Will it read Version 4.0? [&:]

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/318/downloads/

Download the 1.04 UPDATE.

Unzip the file

Double click on the EXE

Install the UPDATE, keep your code handy, as you will need to type it in.

Then it should display 1.04 in the Help --> About portion of the menu.

Hey Mike!

Many thanks for helping to diagnosis my CS problem too! [&o]
