I have done a few small scenarios and then dared to begin the German '41-'45 campaign.
So far I have improved much in destroying red divisions, but I keep having an unhistorically slow railroad repair.

2-3 repair/construction units repair barely a single hex per week.
I get stuck short of Leningrad every time (but destroying most of those 50-60 divisions in the Leningrad area seems to be necessary for a campaign success).

How can I address this problem?

You need to read up on the FBD units and how to use them. You can repair 3-6 hexes down a rail per turn if used properly.

Really wow. Shuffling through the manual..... I thought it could only work on on hex at a time per FBD?

OK I seem to be able to turn several hexes at a time to yellow all at 1 percent. Then what happens? [8|]
Will it go and finish off the ones I have indicated by itself?

Next turn it will be repaired 100%. It is described in the manual at page 61, 5.3.1.4
