Scook_99 -> RE: Where oh where should Zhukov go (7/9/2011 5:57:40 AM)

I am too paranoid early in the game about getting good leaders losses. Stalin doesn't need many excuses to execute a leader. In my most current game, Zhukov and two of the better infantry commanders received Army leadership in the Leningrad area to stop the Germans from taking Leningrad (which they did). All had losing records, but it wasn't too bad. In October, Zhukov too over 1st Shock Army with 6 calvary corps as we pushed back towards Stalino (too far to go, but got all 6 to guard status very quick). He now is in charge of the Kalinin Front that was pushing the Germans back and now has become a rout, leading to a large pocket (roughly 6 divisions) and a promotion for Rokossovski. I would not not put him in STAVKA unless you have the number of units at or below maximum capacity. He has been The Comrade President's fire man so far, and I think I will keep him in that role. I will probably put him in my reserve front command where I will assign the rest of the shock armies to him, and of course newly formed tank/infantry corps once we get that far. Several people like to spend early APs to change out commanders then. I need more games under my belt, I let bad commanders eat losses, then in the 1st winter I replace commanders once I have a reserve of 400 AP in my pool. Find a philosophy you like and go with it.
