marcejap -> Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/9/2011 9:16:06 AM)

I'm thinking to come for my first time. Someone here have been there? And maybe will come this year too?

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/11/2011 8:03:41 AM)

I was last year and will be this one. What would you like to know?

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/12/2011 1:01:17 PM)

Edit: Sorry if I sounded rough. Just I wanted to offer my two cents but I was in a hurry at that moment. That's why I was so straight in my answer.

Half people german, rest from all europe except for some from down-under and one from USA, I believe. We were about 30 in 5 or 6 tables, depending of optionals and level of player.

Extra nice village if you like that stuff (I do) no stop for lunch, just eat something in another room while enemy plays, timetable from 10 to 22 (or it was to  20?)

Dinner usually with your table or friends (those who have) on with other table teams. Price reasonable for dining out.

Locals (germans) or whoever took car there usually drive those in need to the place, which is a little bit out ot town.

In my table (at least) flexibility if somebody forgot sth. which was very obvious along the game, even too much but I cannot complain because I was benefitted from it. [:)]

Paerhc -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/12/2011 5:58:04 PM)

Where in Germany is the Euro WiFCon 2011? And when is it? Is there a webpage for Euro WiFCon?

Centuur -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/12/2011 6:13:49 PM)

Of course there is a website:

http://www.eurowif.de/

It is in a small village called Hofgeisnar (never heard of the place) in the near of Kassel (now that's a nice city to visit, when you're in Germany...).
I think I will take a look on one of those days. Just lurking around...

Red Prince -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/12/2011 6:58:15 PM)

[:(] WiFCon doesn't seem to have a website this year. You Europeans have much more class than us Americans, I guess.

Hofgeismar [:)] It's like 20 km from Kassel. In the Grimm brothers land.

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/13/2011 12:04:08 PM)

No, I just was lucky. [:)]

Gracias, you have been very helpful :) If i should have enough free days from work (not easy, since i have big problem with the boss) i would come.

I noticed (from web site and annual) that most of the people play WiFFe deluxe. Did you have even WiFFE + DODIII games?

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/19/2011 3:41:04 PM)

No problem.

I don't really know. I play DeLuxe, and I saw that some people were playing variants, I think one table was playing DoD but don't know for sure or which version. For that maybe you should contact Markus (at www.eurowif.de ), he is willing to give the necessary info, such as that one.

I have only been last year, this one will be my second.

fallgelb -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/21/2011 9:43:35 AM)

Now I signed in for the EuroWIFCon 2011 in Hofgeismar. There is still possibility to check in.
Infos in Englisch are available at
http://www.eurowif.de/
Reservation in the local Hotel is possible via contacting eurowif.

Most people play WIFFE deluxe, as i know some classic but no DOD.

The last years there were people from Scandinavia, Spain and great Brittain I heard.

ewc -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/28/2011 9:09:40 AM)

24 have registered so far and more than 70% are german-speaking, so I would like to encourage especially players from abroad to register at www.eurowif.de. We want to have at least 6 english-speaking tables after all.

We have a nice hotel www.zumaltenbrauhaus.de all for us in a nice little town and a large playing hall with a kitchen, so there is an all-day supply of free coffee.
I have made a calculation for the overall cost of 10 days of wif including accomodation, mineral water, some beer in the evening, the pizza boy every day (the breakfast buffet is included), a free dinner at the ending party (saturday night) and the attendance fee. 450€ (650 USD) should be enough, assuming you refrain from spending money at the hotel bar with the notorious Norwegians. Transportation from and to Frankfurt airport might be arranged for a minimum fee of 1 Pizza (contact me for details); otherwise a trip with Deutsche Bahn www.bahn.de to Hofgeismar and back is about 60€ if you buy your ticket well in advance.

Contact me at eurowif@web.de for more information.

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (7/29/2011 9:24:09 AM)

Registered. One spaniard, so it should be over 72% now. [:)]

Edit: I meant under 68%[sm=Crazy-1271.gif]

marcejap -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (8/14/2011 2:26:10 PM)

Registrered. It will be my first time. I enlisted for a WiF deluxe, but i hope to find someone that wish to play a WiFFe + DODIII game.

Red Prince -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2011 (8/14/2011 4:10:43 PM)

Good luck to the two of you! Keep us posted on how things are going, please.

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/16/2011 6:37:43 AM)

Thanks. although I am not too worried about winning but about enjoying a week of gaming. Maybe because I accept that with my present level I won't (my lebvel is good but I am far from experts) but also, I will not be interviewed for the tv or anything if I win, much more important to enjoy a week playing in beautiful Essen.

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/17/2011 2:47:19 PM)

Right now down to 63% german speakers, unless somebody is a german exiliated living in another european country... [:)]

Red Prince -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/24/2011 10:17:59 AM)

How did things go? Or has it finished yet?

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/24/2011 10:19:00 AM)

It will be held by the end of October. [:(] Need to wait...

fallgelb -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/31/2011 12:33:16 PM)

@ jose: Don't drive to beautiful Essen, better drive to Hofgeismar :-)
I'm there in October for the first time in my life and as you i don't matter in winning.
We played factory in flames in our latest games and so regarding wif deluxe i'm a little bit out of practice.
As far as i know there are know about 30 players and so about 6 tables.
I'm exited about learning new approaches.

Joseignacio -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (8/31/2011 1:59:04 PM)

Me too, I am planning ahead, including a complete read of the rules and several other matters, like I contacted Markus (the organizer of the event) and I will travel with him from Frankfurt to Hofgeimar. Thanks anyway for the advice.

The previous evening I will arrive to Frankfurt and will try to pulse the ambient, the previous time I couldn't because spending the night there it was like about 400 euro, 'cause in that time, the EWC happened a week before an important fair in Frankfurt.

marcejap -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (9/1/2011 6:24:39 PM)

Yeah, i know that Frankfurt is a little bit expensive when the fair take place. Booking now is better, is a little bit cheaper reserve a room 2 mounths ahead.

Red Prince -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (10/8/2011 12:18:34 PM)

Are we there yet?
Go team!!!

Centuur -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (10/8/2011 2:32:45 PM)

It still is 20 days away... Patience is everything... [:D]

Don't know how, but I missed this response before . . . indeed! It was a trick question! [;)]

Centuur -> RE: Euro WiF Con 2amin011 (11/2/2011 9:01:04 PM)

Tomorrow, I'm going to do a visit there, since I'm going to a large fair with some friends in the area... Saterday, I'll try to make some comments in this thread on the things I'm going to see there...
