JDM -> Playing now Panzer Corps (7/9/2011 7:03:08 PM)

One of the great joys of being on the business end of Slitherine and Matrix games is that I have no input into the creative or technical aspects of our games. However I have been wargaming and playing these games for around 40 years, so I have some experience.

So when the games come out it’s always a bit of a surprise and a treat for me. Iain loaded the game onto my machine before he packed up work on Friday evening but I was working this morning so only got to the game after lunch time.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!! I am so proud to be part of this albeit abstractly, it’s a joy to play and so slick. I just can’t put it down, but I am so enthralled needed to tell someone

So, sorry I have some tutorials to complete and an invasion to launch before I go to bed. It’s going to be a long night!!

Hope to see some of you on line shortly

Best Wishes
JDM

I haven't got the game yet. I was playing its ancestor 'Panzer General' 15 years ago which was very popular among PC wargamers, so full marks to Matrix for revamping an old classic and renaming it 'Panzer Corps'

It's funny because so many people loved PG and I hated it. For me Steel Panthers was the thing.

Jeffery,

I too loved Steel Panthers. Maybe Slitherine can do a remake of that one. (I know wishful thinking)

I am patient, if they build it we will come. Shoot, I'm already hooked into their marketing game with BA and FOG. Now we have PC, and I'm sure I will be hooked in to that one too.

Same here, except that I preferred Close Combat over SP. SP has way too much clicking and watching reaction fire to my taste.

I loved them both.

Josh -> RE: Playing now Panzer Corps (7/15/2011 12:26:44 PM)

Yep, loved them both too. So *now* that I have bought PC the question arises: when can we buy a remake of SP?
I mean, if they can remake PG that good, surely a remake of SP will be a humongous sales hit. (yes I know, this has been discussed a thousand times, still...)

Not to squash your hopes but last time "Steel Panthers IV" was officially mentioned by Grigsby et al was back in 2004 ...

Eddy, the log entry the link refers to didn't say anything about SP exlicitly.

Perturabo -> RE: Playing now Panzer Corps (7/15/2011 9:30:45 PM)

I think he confused Gary Grigsby's World at War with Steel Panthers World at War.

I must be the only person in the world that enjoyed World at War. I play it to this day. Everyone one else insults it.

Nope, should have checked with me first. I too enjoyed GGWAW.

I would love to see SPWAW redone.

Yep, I had to bite my tongue for quite some time, seriously loved already what I did in in early alpha. Kudos to the developers, this is one that will stay on my laptop for some time :)

And on a sidenote. I love(d), SP, PG and CC. You can never have to much of such gaming gems.

Oh yeah :) same here.

gillmant -> RE: Playing now Panzer Corps (7/24/2011 7:29:51 AM)

Still keeps them in my game library! There are a lot of people out there still, modding and updating both Steel panthers and other oldies, like pacific war, PG series and even some old SSI titles, like the wargame construction sets, maybe the market is quite small but these oldies at least had some sort of soul, or very good game mechanics, even if the graphics not always was that good to watch :).
I hope that some studio - publisher does an overhaul in the future!

wodin -> RE: Playing now Panzer Corps (7/24/2011 7:41:16 PM)

SPWAW\SPWW2 was sort of in the pipeline with Close Assault...unfortunately this was cancelled...it was the game that brought me to Matrix...
