my auto save is broken

a while ago, i deleted all the saved games in the save games folder. now, the autosave works only when it feels like it, which seems to be about once every 30 turns or so. anybody know why, and more importantly, how i can fix it?

I ddon't very much about software but you could reload your SPWAW game and all the patches but that's probably a last resort.
