1) One of my favorite optional rules is the limit on lost provinces: can only lose 3 provinces maximum (prevents elimination of a player).
2) Another optional rule: Other pre-existing DOWs besides GB vs. FR
3) GB vs. FR can only end in unconditional surrender
4) Kingdom of North Italy as a political combination

On simul rules: While I understand the time advantages of Simul rules for PBEM, I've never been a fan. I've always thought the board game sequence was fantastic. PBEM ends up with unintended consequences. "We declared war on who?!?!?!?" "Our armies passed in the night?"

Oh yes, and perhaps most important optional rule of them all, the ability for other major powers to become a dominant power. Really inspires people to try and achieve something other than victory points.

I like 1, 3 and these were always included in every game I played.

How do you implement the alternate dominant nations? I thought that was a great rule, but it seems like it would be hard in the Computer game.

all good options that our groupl played with as well. I miss a kingdom of Italy option in the game.

Just a note, that 1, 2 and 3 can be house rules with no change in the coding. 4) needs coding, so might be the only one to ask for.
