Turn 22, 11/13/1941, Snow

No movement. We make many spoiling attacks, 2 Soviet divisions even shatter.

Balou -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/6/2011 10:48:33 AM)

Your Crimea picture: those are Roumanian only stacks ? If you know this is going to work it would be great news - at least for me. I am serious: never tried this before.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/6/2011 7:49:28 PM)

A breakout from Crimea isn't a bad thing. It's a wonderful place to make a pocket come spring.

Q-Ball -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/6/2011 8:09:00 PM)

Those Romanians won't hold, if your opponent is worth his salt. If it were me, I would be moving troops to the Crimea right now, because you will need to divert forces to contain that breakout when it happens.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/6/2011 8:14:45 PM)

I don't intend to contain it too much. There are Italians behind the lines and 3 Panzer Corps within easy rail distance (sitting in cities).

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/7/2011 4:02:02 AM)

Turn 26, 12/11/1941, Blizzard

Soviet winter offensive begins. We hold against many attacks, retreat against a few others. One infantry division is deployed from reserve to AGN, which had no local reserves at all. The Romanian mountain corps reinforces AGS (see screenshot). In Tula a panzer counterattack routs 3 enemy units. In the south a mountain division also counter-attacks successfully. Crimea holds.

Situation stable so far.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/7/2011 4:03:02 AM)

Even Romanians can hold a level 4 fort.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/7/2011 7:05:35 AM)

Turn 27, 12/18/1941, Blizzard

Many attacks are held off, but in other places cracks are starting to appear, perhaps most notably in front of Moscow. We rail a single infantry division to AGN, but all mobile units remain in reserve. Crimea still holds, go Romania!

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/7/2011 11:28:33 AM)

Turn 28, 12/25/1941, Blizzard

We fall back slowly in several areas. Worst hit is the area near Velikie Luki. Tula is also abandoned. In the Crimea there is a retreat in the east.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/7/2011 11:11:30 PM)

Turn 29, 1/1/1941, Blizzard

We are ever so slowly being pushed back all along the front. A few counterattacks are made. At Velikie Luki a Corps of withdrawing panzer units is sent as reinforcements.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/8/2011 8:23:57 AM)

Turn 30, 1/8/1942, Blizzard

Situation stable. We make a few minor retreats and a few counter-attacks.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/8/2011 7:12:53 PM)

Turn 31, 1/15/1942, Blizzard

Three shock armies attack from Leningrad to Velikie Luki. The rest of the front is mostly quiet.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/10/2011 5:39:23 AM)

Turn 33, 1/29/1942, Blizzard

Still being pushed back in a few places, but there are no major threats.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/10/2011 9:58:26 PM)

Turn 34, 2/5/1941, Blizzard

The Soviet offensive is now mostly halted, but they show no signs of stopping their attempts.

Good game
It would be useful to see total casualty figures please

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/11/2011 1:17:06 AM)

Turn 35, 2/12/1942, Blizzard

The Soviets make a few attacks but we hold against most of them.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/11/2011 6:38:16 AM)

Turn 36, 2/19/1942, Blizzard

Except for a few local attacks the front is quiet. In the Crimea the Soviets finally break out, but we decided against intervention as long as the blizzard continues. The Soviet forces there are rather weak and a pocket should be possible come slightly better weather.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/11/2011 9:18:43 AM)

Turn 37, 2/26/1942, Blizzard

We still refuse to send anything to the Crimea while the Blizzard lasts.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/11/2011 9:35:00 PM)

Turn 38, 3/5/1942, Snow

We go on an immediate counterattack in the south. Rail capacity is stretched to the limit as we rail in reinforcements, some of them to the Crimea.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/12/2011 8:09:04 AM)

Turn 39, 3/12/1942, Snow

Offensive in the south all the way up to Voronezh. Unfortunately the Soviets withdraw back into the Crimea. We also have 2 Panzer armies and one infantry army in Germany waiting for rail capacity.

The objective now is simply to conquer as much territory as possible before mud.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/12/2011 7:08:46 PM)

Turn 40, 3/19/1942, Snow

Offensive continues. Should be able to pocket a few units.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/13/2011 9:46:07 PM)

Turn 41, 3/26/1941, Snow

Lack of rail capacity prevents any sort of serious offensive before summer.

kirkgregerson -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/13/2011 10:09:39 PM)

Yeah, the axis doesn't get a lot of rail capacity.  Considering each full pz div could take about 1/5 your rail capacity in 1 turn.  Wish there was a way axis players could choose to build up their rail capacity at the expense of course for something else...say vehicle or tank production.  I'd be happy to lose 10 tigers a year for some boost to my rail capacity as axis, since a decent proportion of tiger tanks will sit in the pools from what I can tell.  Which is a different issue IMO as well.

sveint -> RE: sveint (Axis) vs Hermann (Sov) - Axis PoV (8/13/2011 10:25:22 PM)

I think I railed out too many units. Better to have them sitting in cities not too far from the front.
