gids -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/4/2011 2:52:30 PM)

Turn 100
i opened the turn and got a shockmoment again when i saw 3 cutt off tankcrps ,luckily it looked worse then it was and i could free them with 3 or 4 sharp countermoves ,i secured the flanks there with guardunits and putted a guard corps in the back for any other surprises ,but i think hell go in the reserve mode there,same with me ,i tried and lost ill pull next turn all tanks into the back ,learned my lesson.i brought in some extra units from the north in tambov area and also made some corpsunits ,overall my units are getting more effective
the airwar this week was better 98 from his planes against 68 from mines,one of his airfields got a severe beating with 12 runs over it and almost lost 80 planes
i made 3 more rifles and organized the front a bit more,still need AP for switching HQ and so on

Turn 101 complete mud turn,got 185 AP
spended those reorganizing the front ,made another 6 rifles ,puttes some corpses in the back and made a start doing a recon on the crimea area towards sevastopol,recon showed hes armored units are way in the back,i think he should have closed the game in the crimea past sevastopol not before it,now i have room there to build out my new southfront and push it again after awhile
also i noted a high concentration of forces in the tambov area ?staging point offensive or is he starting to go turtle mode,it would surprise me ,im still not what i should be in all means and if he stages an offensive he has a good chance of succeeding,i start putting my tank corpses and guardunits in the back like comrade suggested ,no risks will be taken coming weeks

76mm -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/6/2011 11:17:17 AM)

I've noticed the same kind of losses, it is kind of incredible.

ComradeP -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/6/2011 1:22:59 PM)

Well, with 8393 training missions flown in bad weather conditions, the figure isn't all that surprising. Sure, it's high, but that's because the number of training missions is also high.

That's also only slightly over a turn's worth of production for the Soviets I believe, so it's not dramatic. You won't miss the kind of pilots who manage to crash their planes during training and you won't miss the aircraft either.

First, I think it is rather surprising that so many training losses are incurred; if the bad weather is a factor, maybe they should fly fewer training missions? It looks like about 25% training missions ended in damaged or destroyed planes. I don't think that any army would accept that level of losses for training.

To say that it is no big deal that training losses almost equal a turn's production is also debatable--so what happens when he actually starts engaging in combat? This is a turn in which he apparently did nothing, and yet lost almost a turn's production--how is the Red Air Force supposed to grow? If the devs think the Red Air Force is overpowered it would be good if they could come up with a better fix.

ComradeP -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/6/2011 2:29:08 PM)

For a single turn, it's no big deal purely from a production perspective. There seems to be a point where the VVS becomes so huge that training losses go through the roof. I'd say it's logical that losses are scaled to the amount of planes flying training missions.

I'm not entirely sure whether the damaged and destroyed planes are separate losses or if a damaged plane that's destroyed is registered both as damaged and destroyed, as I don't know how the system tracks the losses.

Roughly 1/10 planes being lost is a high number, but whether it's a true problem depends on whether it's only for this turn due to the bad weather or if it will be high in the future as well.

The VVS generally grows in bad weather turns like this.

I'm not saying that this might not be an indication of a problem, I'm saying that it depends on whether this is the exception or the rule.

Well sure, but that begs the question of how they should be scaled, and how many training missions the computer flies, especially in bad weather

Gids

I think you may mean you are moving corps not corpses.
Corpses are dead bodies.
Maybe you were right, though

gids -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/7/2011 12:18:35 PM)

i think it should be corps sized units,but idd im lazy and say corpses :p,everyone knows what i mean though...i hope ;)

sillyflower -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/7/2011 12:28:26 PM)

and when you wrote on map that you were moving corpses upwards, I assume you meant to Heaven [:D]

Turn 103
the summer offensive of the germans went of a start and as expected ......tambov area,thank god i send some reinforcements on the last turn there!
he succeeded to make a small kessel and surround part of the volkhof front ,apprently his breakthrough didnt go as good as expected,because he couldnt close it well
i broke out of the kessel with a cavalry removed Enemy Zoc with that ,reshuffled units to other HQ who werent displaced and started to widen the gap i made,after that i pulled the whole kessel back ,then i used my reserve tankcorps to attack his spearhead and cut it off ,i also routed several off his motorized units in the proces,its a small kursk,he lost over 200 tanks with the attacks i made,that will hack in it im sure,also i seem to have total control of the skies almost,some fights over 500 planes go up on a good base,this game is not over yet

gids -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/8/2011 7:13:37 PM)

T 105 im in problems,he broke through with 3 SS divisions through a weak spot (which was bound to happen) ,and i have practically no reserves ,i could go retreat and cut my losses ,but why he cant have more then this ....so i decide to try to cut open the supply and smash with a few guard corps in his flank and make it 1 big tank battle,i rout at least 4 or 5 of his units and succeed to open the supply to all my units,i kno that wont be enough so i bring in reinforcements from Ivanovo ,which i forgot about totally and make a new defensline along the river with the SS units i make 2 corps inits 1 in the back as a nasty surprise next turn and maybe to open a new pocket,if i can keep this up at least 2 more weeks his offensive will have to stall he is losing tremendous amounts of panzers,after that i push over the whole front and dont give his other units rest,he used alot of his weak units as guard units on other fronts plust their TOE will be put on a minmium perhaps for his offensive;on the south front its statick i dont have the reserves to go on the assault there,the battle for tambov has to be won

gids -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/9/2011 5:39:25 PM)

T 105
The battle is full raging now and Tarhunnas commited litterally everything he has all his SS divisions tons of panzers ,same at my side,this battle will decide everything and i cant retreat so pushing harder and more,i succeeded to open 2 gaps again by doing a tricky move .i opened Gap 1 made corps units inside with units who were ready and high morale ,assigned tanks and sapper to them ,stacked and attacked the 2nd gap ,i had a good victory there and soviet troops cheer inside and start to fight harder.i made some more reserve rifles at ivanovo to send down and prepare the line to attack The SS units ,if given time i can maybe do a hard counter,but it depends all how long tarhunnas will prolong the offensive before he decide he has no cards left and has to pull back

M60A3TTS -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/10/2011 2:26:50 AM)

One administrative suggestion.  Stick to black or white lettering on your maps.  The orange and to a lesser extent the red is harder to read.

Fishbed -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/10/2011 9:30:04 AM)

Wow, great engagement Gids!

But I am a little surprised to see the Volkhov front fighting at... Tula!

gids -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/10/2011 3:21:43 PM)

:p i had some reorganization to do after tarhunnas took half my frontline into captivety, still have the trans cauc front in reserve to use ....no ap to use em and i will follow your lead m60 :)

Q-Ball -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/10/2011 4:51:22 PM)

It's hard to use the Soviet Front HQs geographically, because as you get the new ones, you have to use them where you need them.

It doesn't matter in game terms, but I wish you could re-name them for Chrome, and to keep it geographical

cpt flam -> RE: gids-tarhunnas(no tarhunnas) (8/11/2011 5:08:02 AM)

not sure if you rename them
how it will affect about next change of name
