packerpete -> General training questions (8/2/2011 8:16:47 PM)

I apologize in advance if I am asking a coding vs. editor question so please don't shoot me?[8D] I have noticed alot of questions in the forums relating training in all its forms but especially realating to ASW which prompted this request. Could a new task force designation/category be made with a heading of (TRAINING) as a mission and have a couple of options for ASW, AA, ASuW, ect? If this could be done, can the task forces be linked to aircrew/squadron training?

Example: Location somewhere near Pearl Harbor in range of local aircraft squadrons. Have a couple of subs set to some form of training probably ASuW. Another task force of DD's or whatever set to ASW and the aircraft squadrons set to ASW and Naval Search missions. This would give all the parties a simulated target to practice against to raise their respective experience and mission specific ratings. Possible??[sm=00000613.gif] If not I will crawl back in my lurker hole[:D] Thanks again for a great game. Still learning.

Ship crews' experience is far more abstracted than pilot experience. You are asking for the entire ship crew concept to be overturned.

Major coding problem. Won't happen in WitP AE. Part of wish list for WitP 3.0....

Simply putting the ships into a TF will allow them to gain exp slowly up to a fixed cap.

Correct but the OP wants to train up separately ASW from Naval Search. The logical extension would then be to train up separately gun attack from torpedo attack, have a separate train up for minesweeping etc. He wants to transfer pilot skill training to ship skill training.

I was trying to tie ships crew training and aircrew training together, if possible. Since ship's crew training appears to be a nonstarter, could it still be useful for aircrew training? I am thinking of CRSutton's? posted results on aircrew experience and training gains for ASW and Naval Search, which seemed to show that a target really had to be there to get faster results. Thanks again for your time.

Editted to correctly spell CRSUTTON's screen name. DOH!!
