Gilmer -> Pride of Nations (8/10/2011 12:13:02 AM)

They came out with a DLC for the American Civil War today.

Chilperic -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/10/2011 12:22:46 AM)

Buy AACW. Same publisher, but better, achieved, more detailed. The PON scale isn't fitted for ACW. You have big regions and 15 days turns. between New Orleans and Saint-louis, there are maybe 4 to 5 regions. Most of the PON ACW will have the WW1 feeling or will end quickly.

Let's add the DLC begins in 1862, when AACW covers 1861 too. I guess 1862 is the starting date because the AI would be doomed in 1861 with too few units to cover all the war theaters.

Now 3 $ the DLC is very cheap. If you disagree with me, the risk isn't huge, after all.

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/10/2011 9:09:20 AM)

I'd prefer it if they came out with an official patch.

I was going to say the same thing. AGEOD used to be known for releasing patches regularly, almost weekly sometimes, and they haven't released one official one yet.

Phatguy -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 2:58:32 PM)

its because DLC is where the money is......patches only happen if the greed factor is absent...And i'm not really talking Ageod....Im talking their big daddy Paradox, who hasnt missed milking the last nickel from any dead cow in their catalog yet...

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 3:28:17 PM)

Well, no kidding. But we saw that coming the second the press release about Pair-a-dix buying AGEOD came out.

I would, too. But doesn't Paradox have a policy of issuing only three "official" patches per title? If so, I suspect the continuing beta patches for Pride of Nations is an effort by AGEOD to get around the patch limit in order to get the game as close to perfect as they can.

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 4:05:31 PM)

In a sensible world, Pair-a-dix would have been out of business by now. They make **** games, provide **** "support" for them, and generally act like **** towards their paying customers. But the sheep just keep lining up.

[/rant]

Phatguy -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 4:44:29 PM)

Their games are not all **** !

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 5:03:08 PM)

WRONG! They even ruin games they're only supposed to be the publishers of, by ****ting on post-release support.

Phatguy -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 7:19:18 PM)

Thats your opinion....

Chilperic -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/11/2011 10:33:34 PM)

If Ageod had released a better game, the question of patch rate would be less accurate.

Why are you so full of hate?I heard the reason is because PI fired you.Is there any truth to that?

mytony -> RE: Pride of Nations (8/13/2011 9:22:30 AM)

not like war. like a peace world.

berto -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/2/2011 11:00:08 PM)

Released earlier today:

PON 1.02 Patch candidate (public beta 1.01 serie L, updated Sept 02)

New features, lots of fixes. Get it while it's hot.

ezzler -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/3/2011 7:41:22 PM)

Is the game any good. It looked promising. Demo was Ok.
But I've been burned by that company before so didn't buy.

Is it all fixed up and playable now?

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/3/2011 8:10:58 PM)

Looks like they took it down again, after several people reported a deal-breaking bug. Get a move on, Paradox!

Yogi the Great -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/3/2011 8:50:44 PM)

Paradox put a game out with a bug!

Gee, whoever could have guessed that might happen?

Terminus -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/3/2011 11:21:57 PM)

Erm, EVERYBODY!

It's up now (4 September 2011) and it has the same name as the patch I downloaded yesterday, Patch_PON1.01LPB.zip.

I didn't see any mention made on either the Paradox or AGEOD forums about "a deal-breaking bug."

NefariousKoel -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/6/2011 9:30:10 AM)

Actually, there's a hotfix for that beta out right now.

While Pdox certainly doesn't have a good track record regarding bugginess, I still think they get some things right (especially their DRM stance) and I do enjoy many of their games.   Since Ageod is regularly releasing beta patches, I'm quite happy with their progress.  As usual, Termie's melodrama is in the realm of ridiculousness.

comte -> RE: Pride of Nations (9/6/2011 10:03:43 AM)

Pride of Nations has been a major disappointment and I really don't blame people for being upset about the state it was in on release.
