jdver55 -> MOdding tools? (8/12/2011 8:29:38 AM)

I have Cross of Iron and I was wondering what I would need to make a mod. I'm thinking about a 2011 Libya civil war mod.

Time, patience and determination are the most important requirements.

As a general rule its best to start small, tinkering at the edges, moving on to bigger changes as your confidence and skill grow.

Good advice surely but I'm wondering if you could provide more practical and direct advice. For example, I'd like to know how to edit the .sfx files to get rid of soldier's voices. There is no way currently to toggle voices without turning off sounds altogether, and I'd like to change that. What's needed to edit a .sfx file?

Thanks,

Tim

According to my archives the tools you need are:

"SFXPack" to cut .wav files from the CC III sound file, "Goldwave" to modify them, and "CC3Hack" to "replace and save" sounds.

This is all from notes made many years ago. I've never actually tried sound modding.

So it might be an idea to PM one of the sound modders.

Apologies for the slowness of this reply.

I also would like to start modding COI.
Can someone inform me as to the location of the COI mainscreen,soldiers health,medals etc., graphics and what tools do I use to extract and/or 'modify' them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...[X(]
