zombiehunter -> Just a few questions about campaign decisions (8/15/2011 4:47:31 AM)

I've been trying to make my very own "grand campaign" using all of the vanilla maps, some of my own, and some scenarios I've borrowed but I keep running into the same snag. Is there any way to get around the "decision gates" like the one that pops up after Barbarossa? While I applaud the design, I'd like to make my campaign go straight to Kiev but every change I make just seems to crash the game. Suggestions?

Also I'd like to make a North Africa section in my campaign but frankly not having desert tiles drives me batty, any ideas on how I can fix that?

And finally, as a matter of strategy my post Russian Offensive strike at Britain will be first launched at Ireland. As a matter of fact it goes Ireland, Liverpool, London.. maybe eventually a Scapa Flow mission in there too. Is this strategically stupid or brilliant... or both? Your comments are welcome.

I fear it would be very unlikely Germany attack Ireland and for this case I completely ignore out any strategic decision points.
Even if Germany wins decisively the (air) Battle of Britain they are still are hamppered by the limited range and payload of their aircraft. England can still have reserve airplanes out of Germany's reach in North Ireland and Scotland. Even if the bombers except for the Stuka could provide cover all along the way past England to Ireland they would have to do it without fighter escort. But without escort the bombers would be shot down and the transports themselves exposed to aerial attacks.

However the main problem is the superiority of the British Navy. Even if the German Navy throws everything they have, I doubt seriously they would even have the slightest change to prevent anything other than heavy losses to their troop transports.
Germany need to capture south England and the airfield before it can push any further.
Except of course Hitler suddenly pulls lets say 4 aircraft carries, each with 90 aricraft carried out of his sleeve and they hold their ground against England's 7 aircraft carriers. :)

I'm not 100% sure, but if you look at BarbarossaBNoW_decisive.pzbrf (in Data\Briefings) you can see that the radio buttons can be changed (or possibly removed).
I'd assume the lines you want to change are id="Rush to MoscowNoW" which is the entry point name for that scenario in the campaign file.
Alternatively you could probably remove both <button...> lines and that would terminate the scenario picking function entirely.

At least that's how I think it'll work.

"Panzer Corps\Graphics\Tiles" You'll have to edit them too add your custom tiles afaik.

Invasion if Ireland wouldn't be impossible.
However there's little strategic value in going for Ireland before mainland Britain.

There's no strategic value in going for Ireland, even German beer is superior.
