ORIGINAL: cherryfunk One of the coolest things about WitE for me is that, while it's on a divisional/corps level, you can split divisions into their component units (regiments, if I'm not mistaken) to cover more ground. I love this level of detail and the added complexity (and, the ease with which it can be done). But... is it a feasible tactic? How often do experienced players do this, and under what circumstances? (Note: I'm asking from the Axis POV, as I imagine the Soviets have less of a need for this.) For the most part, there are limited times when I find the need to split units. ( mostly due to the increase command burden and movement costs imposed when broken-down. ) 1. To allow me to completely encircle an enemy unit when otherwise, I would be just shy of closing a pocket. 2. On defense, there are times when I need "pickets" to either cover a retreat, or reduce contact with the enemy and the associated attrition. 3. When chasing down partisans or anti-partisan city garrison duty.
