I cannot recommend that book enough. I've read it three times and I still find stuff I missed.

Does this book give a lot of details, like OOB's and stats? I'm looking for a good book showing a bit more of the tiny details. Thanks.

I found Tully's book on the Suriago Strait to be of almost as high quality as Shattered Sword. However, a revised account of Suriago is nowhere near as exciting as a revised account of Midway!

Surigao Strait was bascially a "Shooting fish in a barrel" exercise. Hard to be dramatic about that, I think the book concentrates on how the IJN ships died.

Yeah, pretty much who was where, when. It was still an interesting read, though -- especially about the role of the PT boats in the area. USN DD torpedo warfare greatly improved from two years before. Ed-
