Yep, served from '73-'83 in 1/1 Cav in Schwabach. The "blackhawks" (1/1/ cav) was the screen for the division.

Got a hairbrained idea guys. Yea another one. What do you all think about airlifting some PI troops for one of those islands to Naga or Legaspi (still in my hands) I think he only has a small force in this area and I would say that he only has a BF guarding the rear. Yea I know it will take a few turns to get enought man power there but itmight just throw him off track.

Still the 20th of Dec

Just finishing the turn.  Going to try a hay maker.  KB is west of Palemburg.  I am going for a night attack with some Brit torp bombers and some cats.  Lets hope they hit a few ships.  I am not going to go with the airlift forces behind his lines.  I can use those cats for other things that are more important down the road.  Lets see how things go. 

Also I am trying to load pics that are to big how do I make them smaller so I can load them on here.

The program seems to handle full screen shots, are you loading RL pics? I try and use the crop tool to limit the size of the area to what matters most, if that helps.

KB DEI raiding.

Bad News
Lost most of the 27th Aussie brigade to the KB.  Along with its TFs  4 or so xAPs 2 xAKs.  My mistake I should of ran them another direction.

Daily bombings.  We shot down 15 for the lost of 6[:D]. Oh yea I was only counting Zeros!!!  Another 5 is counted as ops losses.  Nice day in the Air war.

Malaya
Evacuations of one of the Indian brigades will begin tom.  I was able to evac 2 Buffs.  Eight more to go. 

DEI
KB raiding.  He got my TF carrying the 27 Aussi brigade.  My night ambush did not fly.  Maybe tonite, I don't know.

KB raiding DEI.

Bad Lost another 2 brigades well mostly.  They were 1 hex away from their destination.  When they got hit by a CL and 2 DD TF.  CL Ceres put up a good fight she sank one DD and damaged the others.  She will make it but most of her flock won't.

KB raiding.  When is it going to go back to port?  I have lost around 16 xAPs 2 AS 1 AR several xAKs and xAKLs along with most of 3 brigades.  I am not doing so well.  My plans for protecting Timor not going to happen now.  My stupid mistakes and unlucky rolls of the die have put a stop to some plans.  I am learning though.  It is Scen 1 so it's not as bad as it could.  I will get those troops and ships back.

more later got to mow the yard hopefully for the last time this year.

AC loses to 22nd Dec. I am happy with this. I have 3 AVG with 4 kills each 3 Am pilots in the PI with 3 kills each 1 Aussi pilot with 3 kills. It's a race who will get to be the Allies first Aces!

22nd Dec ship loses for IJN. There is some FOW the main screen says I have sunk 16 ships for 187 points. I have like 22 ships on my list. I think one of the CS might have made it out and not for sure about the 2 DDs and 1 CA sunk due to mines. That would be nice though.

So I need to figure out my new plans.  I think my plans were a little flawed to begin with.  I'm not experienced enough to go and play aggressive early.  So I will back off some and see where he's going.  I will plan ambush in areas I think he will visit.  I've lost alot of ships and troops for nothing because of my mistakes and bad luck.  But I still love this game.  I would like to see and AE 2 with some changes to the Allied side.

Well I know where most of his navy is.  My count 5 CAs, 3 CLs, 12 DDs are in small 3 or 4 ship TFs in DEI.  The KB has 3 BBs couple CAs, CLs, and 6 DDs.  I know he has more but thats a good bit of his navy and they are patroling the back side of Timor also.  Thats were both troop TFS were attacked.  On the good side CA Houston's TF encountered a 3 DD TF by Taraken sinking one of the DDs.  British torp bombers caught a CA and sunk it.  A CL caught a 500 pounder.  I just noticed that alot of my TFs have high detection ratings.  Hmm not good.  I figured that he wouldn't be on that side of the Timor Islands.

So I don't know what he has going on outside of of PI, Malaya, and DEI.  Alot of subs outside PH.  I don't see anything moving around the Pacific.  Wake has a detection of 1/3.  I wonder what he is up to.

KB just north of Ambon.  I hope its leaving

Not much has went on.  He has taken more bases along the northern coast of Borneo.  I am still airlifting units all over the place.  He still has not put his nose into the Pacific.  HMM no recon or nothing.  He is making a move for northern China.  Other than that not much.  Sorebjea (sp) was hit hard trying to get the repair yards to repair, they are up to 5k now.  I got alot of ships close to sinking and could use the yards.  I also got some warships that need some everyday damage repaired.  Maybe later I will post more and some screenies.  But got to spend time with the family.

KB Lost contact with it as it left the Celebes area.

Good news got the A24s and there moving to PM and into DEI it will take a few days to get them into DEI but can't wait.

His troops are now at Clark field and they bombareded it. Oh great. I have 800+ AV there with 1 fort, yes 1 fort. I have not been able to get it up or the other damaged areas down.

Malaya
Bombings. I did hit a DD today with 3 500lb bombs leaving the DD with heavy fires and heavy damage. Hopefully that bastarded will sink.

Borneo
Northern Borneo is now almost all under his control. He has a landing force with its TF at one base now. I am sending the Huston TFup to meet them. There is a SAG moving around in the area. Intell has it leaving the area maybe I can miss it and hit the amphib TF.

DEI
Moving troops. The last tanker from Palemburg got tt and sank. Pburg is almost a level 3 fort with 200 or so AV (I'm thinking will have to check my computer when the FU gets down looking at wedding stuff). HEHEH I did get her to say yes to Hawaii for the Honeymoon. Koniu has a SAG approaching the straits at Bailipaken(sp). I am hopeing they will come down into my TT bomber range.

A tanker was sunk at PH. He's got his reaction set on his subs. That sub followed my ASW forces in and then struck the tanker. Lots of ASW work but nothing to show for it besides dead fish floating around. Atleast he is wasting his TT's and none of my DDs have been hit yet. I am moving forces forward I will be moving units to Ndeni to start building bases there.

Interesting AAR for me since my long running PBEM (now 5/43) started in a similar fashion with the Manila raid.

With the Manila strike, you have the PH battleships available, but they're fuel hogs. In my PBEM game, I didn't move them from Pearl for several months to avoid draining fuel from the Oz bases. Make sure you're working on setting up your LOC from the WC to Oz, so your tanker/AK convoys can operate safely, or at least know when KB or mini-KB is coming so you can run.

Your ASW will get much better as your ships get upgrades and you can put ASW trained pilots into your squadrons.

The A-24s should have some pilots with naval bombing training to be really effective, and also if they face enemy fighters unescorted they'll go down in droves. You don't get a lot of replacements for those and it might be wise to hold some in reserve for a Japanese move against Oz.

Oh, and belated congrats BTW. [:)]

Yes my BBs haven't made it to Oz.  they are patroling other spots.  I have noticed a problem and am holding the turn for now.

Japs have reached the edge of Clark AF.  For 3 days they have been shelling or attacking the AF.  On the 28th they delib atttacked with 1:1 odds reduced my fort to 0.  We both took around 2500 casualities.  I went from 850s AV down to 550s AV.  He attacked with 1800+ AV now around 1700 AV.  He has 3 tank rgts, 4 inf rgts, 1 inf div, 2 recon rgts, 1 inf bde, 5 art, 5 eng rgts, 5 detachments or SNILFs, 2 inf bns, and the 14th army.  I don't know how long Clark can hold.  I am also wondering if I should buy the 2 P40E sqd out or let them go.  I had thought I would but Alfred has me thinking about not doing it.

Malaya
The air evac of the 2 cut off Indian bdes is going great.  I'd say 5 more days and I should have them both out.  He is sitting one hex north of Singers.  Singers is almost lv 3 forts with 850 AV.

Celebes
He has attacked Manado.  There are 3 TFs north of Ambon.  I believe they are heading there, but not for sure.  One I know is a SAG intell says 9 ships 3 CAs and thats it.   I have moved the swordfish sqd to Kendri.  Its at its max range but I got to do what I can.  I have no SAGs close I am trying to move 2 into the area.  I have set the hudsons to Lnav along with other planes in the area.  The CD unit has high morale and all guns are ready.  Almost 2 forts with 142 AV and 140 mines.  I hope the mines help me out.  I am also redirecting some subs into the area.

The rest of the world is quiet.

Just a few more observations in favour of not spending at this stage, the PPs on those squadrons.

1. The PP cost is based on the number of planes in the unit. The fewer airframes in the unit, the fewer PPs are spent. Hence if you can still maintain an airbridge back to Australia (remember post #24 also commented on retaining Cebu/Zamboanga etc) via Ambon, you may still be able to get those units out at only a fraction of the current PP cost.

2. You can always save the experienced pilots from squadrons attached to restricted HQs.

3. I notice you are sending fighters on naval strike missions. You need to factor into the PP expenditure cost benefit analysis the value of that rarely employed tactic, particularly if you base them on one of the Filipino island airfields to strike against unprotected enemy merchantmen.

Yes Alfred I still remember. Also thanks for coming back to post.   I will shut up sit down listen when you walk into the room.  I did not know that PPs were based on the number of planes in a unit.  I do still have Cebu/Zamboanga/Taraken.  I only have 9 P40s in one sqd and 4 in another.  I have not used any of my replacement P40Es yet.  I have removed the exp pilots out of other sqds that I have disbanded. I have thought about striking merchantmen from other AFs in the PI.  If I recall you mentioned that. 

My thoughts are I only have the Dutch fighters and what few Buffs, that I can save from Singers.  I want to get those P38s into well trained and free sqds so I am watching were I will use replacement AC.  I have an idea but my ideas have been bad since the start of the game.  I want to put some P39s into the Mohawk sqds at PH then put those planes into the P38 sqds freeing up the P38s.  Thats my plan.

I think I am getting a little bit more experienced with the game.  Lately I have seen ships and units in a different light than before.  AS's, ARs, and other now I miss them and should of done more to get them out.  I am seeing were I messed up earlier in the game and should of moved faster or did something else and it would of made my postions better in the future instead of at that moment.

I found a sep Inf rgt at Kodiac, I am thinking of sending it to Wake.  Just incase he decides to attack Wake.  I want him to pay for it.

Jap delib attack Clark AF again.  Our boys put up a strong fight.  Costing the Japs 2550 causalties 33 destroied inf 121 disabled.  We suffered 1040 casualties with 17 inf destroied and 94 disabled.  Fort is back up to one.
