How accurately does the game represent replacement German pilots?

I have seen online that "During the first half of 1944 the Luftwaffe day fighter units suffered debilitating losses at the hands of the better-trained American escort fighter pilots, whose P-51 Mustangs could in any case out-perform the best fighters the Germans then had in service at this time; during this period the home-defence units lost some 2,000 pilots killed, missing or wounded. "

In the game that I am currently playing the LW have sustained around 2,000 killed wounded and missing up until the end of '43. If I repeat this in early '44 will the LW start to run out of trained pilots?

You will keep getting new pilots, often in the useless 50-60 experience range.
The key to success for Lw is to raise the fighter pilot survivability to many dozen sorties per KIA on average. This will make them learn on the job, and become deadly at 70+ experience.

Cease the use of poor survivability fighters such as 110s in face of escorts, 109s in general.

Fw 190A-5/-6 is the way to go till you can get the Ta 152C all-round be(a)st fighter ASAP.

Pilot XP will drop significantly once you get into 1944, and limiting fuel supplies will also have an effect.
