Hi, a buddy of mine (not a forum member) has the game and it loads fine, screen looks great but the background squares and ship movement range lines are not visible at all. Everything else looks great and he has reloaded the game twice to try and correct.

He has an nVidia FX 1600M card and we downloaded the most current driver and still no joy. System is well above minimum requirements.

Any ideas?

He probably has them toggled off.  Just above the minimap are 3 little buttons for toggling ...drumroll... the background squares, the movement range lines, and also scanner coverage.
