Loungehound -> Hello (10/24/2002 2:52:47 PM)

I got the game this week and played thru the tutorials and a couple of scenarios. This game looks like a real blast, and exactly what I've been looking for for many years. I used to play ASL, when I could find an opponent! Hopefully I'll figure out the game soon (like about a year) and provide cannon fodder eventually. One question, I played "Wittman's Gamble" and got a decisive victory, then "Wittman's Return" and it was a draw, even though my score was 11000 to the AI's 4000. What does this mean?
Everyone seems very helpful, and I'm sure I'll have many more stupid questions, so thanks in advance!

IIRC, the game engine calculates the final result, according to this table:

up to 3:1 DRAW
BETWEEN 3:1 AND 6:1 MARGINAL VICTORY
6:1 + DECISIVE VISTORY

This playing against AI

For those who care or don't know or remember.

Here are the ratios:
SPWaW Victory Ratios explained.

Human vs computer
More than 1-3 Decisive Loss
1-3 to 3-1 Draw
3-1 to 7-1 Minor victory
7-1 Higher Major victory

The odds vs human player are a little lower. This is due to the predictable action of the AI in computer generated battles.

Human vs. Human
More than 1-2 Decisive Loss
1-2 to 2-1 Draw
2-1 to 6-1 Minor victory
6-1 Higher Major victory

Welcome. I sincerely hope you enjoy the game.

Hi, Have fun exploring. You will never want for an opponent after you learn to clobber the AI everytime out. For a nice gentle getting to know the game experaince I recommend any battle by Wild Bill. If you can master these you are ready to advance to human versus human via PBEM or online. (online is a hoot)
