there is a subfolder named Logs in the PCO folder. That folder contains logfiles for the game. The logfile name contains the date. If you could copy and paste the section of the logfile around the time of the crash it might show what is missing. Each line of the logfile as a time stamp on it.

Thanks
Rick

Here are the contents of the log. The last timestamp is 7:49pm though I have autosaves at 7:51 and 8:02 ( though the later one my have been me restarting the scenario).

Thanks, Sean.

If I am reading it right, I don't think your integrated video is up to the task of that map.

rickier65 -> RE: PZO crashing with Beta patch (9/27/2011 3:02:46 AM)

Please try setting your screen resolution in the configuration menu before anything else. Then try starting the tutorial.

If that fails, attach a copy of the log file.

Sorry for the problems.

Thanks
Rick

firehall -> RE: PZO crashing with Beta patch (9/27/2011 4:32:19 AM)

I turned down the graphics some more and finished the scenario. Perhaps applying the beta patch had increased the graphics details. I'll post again if it returns. Thanks for the quick response Rick and Junk.

firehall -> RE: PZO crashing with Beta patch (9/27/2011 5:32:52 PM)

It's happened again while playing the same scenario. Each time it's crashed I've been late in the scenario, today it was turn 17 or so.

I confirmed the resolution selected in configuration menu is the display's native resolution. I also lowered the texture quality to medium, detail quality was already medium). In the game I turned off grass. Shadows are off and infanntry is limited as well.

I played a campaign and more of PZ Kharkov and a few games of PZO in the spring on this PC but hadn't touched it all summer until I installed the patch this week.

Here are the entire contents of the log file:

The last timestamp in the log is 10:56am but the game crashed at 11:30am.

I could try to recreate the crash with a fresh install without the beta patch.

Rick, you suggested going to the tutorials. Is there something special in the tutorial or did you just suggest it because they are less CPU/graphics intensive?

Thanks,
-Sean

I was suggesting the tutorial because I thought it might be less intensive, but I just looked at the map you are loading and I'm not sure it's that demanding either. And since you are able to play the scenario for a while, I don't think it's a map issue. But could you post a saved game for close to the time it crashes and explain what you were doing, ie orders etc.

I see the message about not being able to load the mega8192, but I checked and that map doesn't have a megatexture.

You could try unintalling the game, dleting the directory, then reinstalling. Make sure you have your serial number. You might also see if your computer has a utility to test your hardware, memory particularly.

You might post a DXdiag and maybe Erik will have some ideas of things you can check. I can't think of anything else to try.

Thanks and sorry for your troubles with this.

Rick

I keep hearing about this beta-patch. How does one get a copy or is this for the testers only?

You will need to go to the Members area, then the section for Downloads for Registered Games. make sure your game is registered. It used to require a separate login for the Member area, separate from the forum, but I dont know if that is still the case or not.

You should be able to find any downloads for any of your registered games there.

The latest beta patch should be shown. If you aren't in a rush, a new beta patch is expected any day now. (Maybe even today).

Thanks
rick
