1. Completely accurate stats are provided at the end of play.

2. The real advantage of playing with FOW off is not in seeing the enemy casualties, which in any case are not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, but in having accurate spotting of enemy units. Read the whole of chapter 10 of the manual, in particular page 217.

3. AE is very much built upon the ediface of challenging logistics. Although very much abstracted, the game does capture the flavour of real world logistics (but see following point 4), an issue very rarely properly approached by other games.

4. Aircraft do not consume fuel, only supplies. Only vessels (and Heavy Industry) consume fuel, so you don't have to be concerned about sending planes away to conserve fuel stocks.

Alfred is certainly a font of knowledge, thus the SOB title. One thing I might add, albeit at risk of being drawn and quartered, is the idea that you don't have to play a game for the victory conditions and thus the "points". You can play if for fun, experience and/or in relation to what you might consider to be the wider aspects of the scenario as related to "grand strategy." If one takes that view, some ventures seem mandatory and others down right silly in relation to the "victory points".... Just a thought...
