Big Bill -> Mega Campaign, Thanks (10/29/2002 7:18:00 AM)

Thank you Brent Richards and Jim Holland plus the other people who tried to help. I printed the instructions and some day when I feel lucky I'll give it a try, but I can't stop feeling that I should have been able to buy a product, put the CD in my drive, hit install and follow the instructions,Than play. I can't remember when I last had a CD fail to load, now I have two!

Thanks Guy's

Gmenfan,

See my last two post's under Mega Campaign and Mega Campaign 2, It isn't a big deal, I would like to play the campaigns I purchased but I just don't have the time to what was suggested to me in order to get them to work, maybe I have a problem with my computer ( New Gateway/ Win XP ). The other two CD's I purchased at the same time ( UV, Grande Arme) loaded and ran fine. Look at the help post's to my problem and see if you feel this is a reasonable solution to my problem or am I expecting too much in thinking I can put a cd in my drive, follow the instructions and play my game. Like I said, no big deal, maybe Matrix will come out with a CD with everything on it and all working togeather, If they do I'll buy it! ;)

Remember now, the biggest problems with SPWAW in the past is the installation program it is very unreliable at best. On the Watchtower CD the errors your receiving appear to be from trying to install Combat net, don't, it doesn't work so don't install it. On the LV CD in the run box from the start button if you type X:\update.exe (X=CDROM Drive letter)this should install LV into your current version of SPWAW. When the installation program asks for the directory to install to do not alter it in any way, don't even click on it just accept it and press next this is where what we call nested directories stems from. Directories with the same name embedded within each other. If you want drop me an email and I'll walk you through it step by step. I will start you fresh from the beginning, just let me know if your willing to uninstall your current version and begin fresh.

Supervisor -> Nested directories (10/29/2002 11:28:22 PM)

Check to make sure that you don't have nested directories. These are directories with identical names residing within each other. Below is what a proper looking directory tree should like with all Mega's installed. Hover your cursor over the image and in the bottom right corner a resize icon should appear allowing a larger easier viewing image. As long as you move or copy all contents of secondary identically named directorites up to the first directory of that name everything should work fine. All sounds get copied into the main sound directory named :\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\snd. If you notice within the Matrix directory tree only one folders shares the same name twice, save. One is located within the :\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\save and :\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\MegaCam\save.
