kriegmarine -> Pilot training (10/28/2011 8:24:08 PM)

Hi, I've been reading a lot about it, but really not clear to me, so I prefer someone who can help me I confirm it.
I have several units trained fighter pilots for a long time, but I do not know if they are already well prepared and left him more time training.
- Exp 45-55%
- Air 69-72%
- Defend 65-71%
What would you do you continue or pass them to the pool?
Sorry, but my English is not good [8|]

PD:Upps, I did not see that there is another open post on the subject, I ask some moderator to move this post.

Those pilots are suitable for combat imho.

The difference between a 65 airskill pilot and a 70 airskill, or 45xp vs 50xp or 65defense vs 70 defense isn't going to be noticeable. Though a pilot with 45xp/65air/65def isn't going to preform as well as a 50xp/70air/70def pilot, the difference won't be huge. So to me waiting for 50xp and 70airskill is an aesthetic choice. You can get them to 70 defense as well easily enough (just train another skill once airskill hits 70) but it will add a lot of time to the training process.

Don't try to train above 70 skill, it would probably take as long to get 73 airskill as it takes to get to 70 in the first place.

Erkki -> RE: Pilot training (10/28/2011 8:38:56 PM)

Yep, dont train any skill above 70. BTW the air skill increases when pilots fly sorties(slowly), when they do combat(faster) and when they get kills (up to 6-7 per kill!). However DEF skill improves very slowly during actual combat and it looks like it needs putting the pilot in real danger. It might be a good idea to rather train to DEF 65-70 and AIR 60-65 which should be doable by the time the pilot hits EXP50.

Pilot can gain 6-7 bexp per kill?? Really, I have not noticed that.

You are not going to get them much higher without a lot of time spent so it is best to put them in your reserve pool and start a new batch. It is best to have lots and lots of trained pilots rather than a small cadre of highly trained pilots. If you are playing the Allies, you will undergo a rapid expansion of your air force and will need to fill them up with pilots. Most will learn on the job-some won't. The key skill early in the game is air combat. You really need to focus on clearing the sky of Japanese pilots. Late war, you are going to have so many more planes that pilot skill in any other category is not needed beyond certain levels. Aside from air combat, I find that bombing, asw, low, nav and straffing skills need not be too high. When you have a surplus of frames and units, it does not matter so much if you skills are a little lower. I think too many players obsess on building up high skilled pilots in a few specific categories which is a waste of time. Get the exp up to the 50 or better level and some other basic skills in the 40-50 range and then go let them fight. They will do well enough and a lot of them will do well enough to become very good.

I should say that I stive to keep my carrier pilots on a higher level than marine and army.

Agreed with carrier pilots. You can use those pilots in lesser areas that aren't as vital....but they should be ok to throw in the mix.
