Oleg Mastruko -> Axis early refit? (10/28/2011 9:11:40 PM)

I started a PBEM as Axis (feels strange for a Sov fanboy like me).

As Soviets I keep all units on refit most of the time. So, how many units should or could I keep on refit in early stages of Barbarossa as German and expect to reasonably be filled up with new stuff? Should I keep panzer divs permanently on refit during Barbarossa, even if they are too far away from the railheads? My logic is to keep them on priority refit if they can be reached, if they are too far away - no biggie, stuff will not be lost, simply re-routed to other units that are on refit, only closer.

Is that correct?

What's the fashion with Axis Allies and their refit settings? They have their own pools, so keeping Rumanians on refit does not steal things from Germans, right?

I generally set each of the Pz Korps to Refit all units at the start of the game, as well as the mobile units assigned to the Pz Groups. Then, after the first few turns, I'll gradually add units to refit depending on their TOE status, what their tasks are, and their morale rating (86+). Examples of who gets to stay in refit might be the spearheading Infantry Korps of 16th and 18th Armies, since they are usually driving hard all the way to Leningrad.

Correct on the separate pools.

Thanks Lord Vader LOL. Some Sith Lords have cool hats, and not all of them are Germans. One guy, I think he's Italian has the hat the size of Kremlin. We certainly must prevail over such fashion monstrosities. (We = Soviets, as I can't go against my inner self)

I am congratulating myself as I did exactly that even before I read your suggestion.

Oleg,

I am into my first pbem as the Axis...

I have set all my infantry except the Leningrad raiders on 80% Toe, artillery on 60%...my manpower pool on turn 15 is 250,000; I only refit if infantry is below 70%.

I have refit off on all units units turn 10ish. I turn on mech and tank units.

I will beef up one Infantry army with support and turn refit on that 1 army.

I turn on refit to infantry units as needed.
