Hi Guys & Gals Simple question really. Are you gonna buy DW Legends at release? I will buy the Digital Download version. The info I have is that you need Distant Worlds plus Return of the Shakturi to install Legends on top. I hear Distant Worlds may be packaged with ROTS for the new buyers. Perhaps Matrix can elaborate. Also do the Beta Testers of Legends get a free game? I presume they do!

Buy? Oh yes, very much so, unless I happen to find a complete horror story from a reliable source right after release. Approximately during the time it takes me to type my credit card number. Digital? Of course, I don't want more physical stuff than necessary in my life.

Bug hunting? Leave the poor Sluken alone! Racists really...[:-] I will get it, but maybe not install it until my AAR in the Shakturi timeline got a decent end. Since it is made to resemble the idea of an enterprise like ship it will be able to end anytime though.

I am not a 4X junkie at all. I think I maybe have bought something GalCiv once, but not played it much. I love DW, though. I have enjoyed Europa Universalis, and played the original the most. I think DW is in many ways similar to this one. The slow, relaxed, real time setup. Currently I want to play Legends while waiting for the Old Republic...

i might pass it up, with sots 2/skyrim/arkam asylum/battlefield 3 keeping me busy for the next few months. but i might pick it up later if the new territory system turns out good

If I get a digital copy (i never buy them), will I be able to redownload it for unlimited time, or is there a time limit? Just in case my PC crashes or something like that.

For matrix I think the download link expires, but you get a new one if you contact support. If you buy a game over a network like Steam, the game is tied to your account. As long as steam don't go belly up it should be safe. At least as long as you are able to recover your username, password, security question, credit card... some of that stuff.. As for PC crash. If a PC crashes, I doubt DW is the only thing to worry about. Get a backup. Or two. I have a lazy backup method in storing stuff on a NAS running Raid 1. Mixed with DW on two different computers, and the possibility for a new download link, I feel somewhat safe. At least compared to having the game on a single computer, and on a DVD that is just waiting to be scratched

I bought RotS when it first came out (about 1 year ago) and a couple of days ago I visited the members area of the matrix website. I accidently requested a new download link somehow because shortly afterwards I received an email with a download link for RotS, not sure what I did, but this shows how easy it is to redownload your game if you have a HD failure or something, I did it by accident a year after buying!

If you are to give it away and use the digital download you could buy and download all install files. Store the product keys in a text file, and add them all to a cheap (or expensive) memory stick and give that one away.
