Oliver Heindorf -> Objective setting for a Unit to arrive in the future (11/6/2011 7:00:42 PM)

Hi, I have just received this unit. As you can see, their objective is Rabaul. I have setted this Objective by looking in another regiment of this division figuring out when it arrives and then clicking on the screen.

I did the same with the 4th Marine Regiment, which will arrive in (44 ??) I plan them now for Guam, hopefully that I will really need it there.

Is it a cheat or WAD ? I mean, if a unit is already there but not yet set to PTO they still can plan for this objective. on the other hand this way is denied if you go to the info screen clicking around the units to arrive.

any commens ?

Lets see what can be done for the 6th Marine Division where I have only one Regiment yet in Sep 42 and the others will take alot of time before I can use them.

The 4th Marine Regiment will take more then two years before they arrive. I wonder what they were waiting for ? Santa ? Here they are planning for Pearl.

We will change that as we think it is unneccessary.

4th Marines are already in the Pacific. The 4th was formed from the Marine Raider Battalions. You should see all your Raider Battalions withdrawing about the time the 4th Marines arrive.

And original 4th Marine Reg was lost in Philippines. Reformed from Marine Raider Bns as Don says. They were forming a cadre for 6th Marine Div.

Also, Marine Para Bns were used as cadre for 5th Marine Division, also set to disband that time.

Interesting to note that you can try to set the planning target before arrival... didn't know that.

I think its a great idea, especially in the case of the 4th Marines where it was as force in theatre (though as seperate Bns)

The player can make some decisions, have the chance they are screwed up, or have fresh forces arrive prepped for a relevant target.

Can you only do this for sub units.

Interesting, didn't know that units not yet in the theater can have their planning changed.

But the question from the OP remains... is this cheesy?

Itdepends -> RE: Objective setting for a Unit to arrive in the future (11/11/2011 9:31:29 AM)

I wouldn't think so- maybe for fresh units just out of basic but for units relocating from other theaters they could have been prepping for a new target prior to shipping out.
