Strv103C -> Support units (11/19/2011 3:45:53 PM)

I have some problems to figure out which SUs I should attach to my soviet corps and armies (as of spring 42).
My armies have mostly:
- 2x RR eng
- 4x Artillery
- 1x sapper regiment
- 1x AT regiment

My Cav corps have:
- sapper regiment
- ski battalion
- tank battalion

Tank corps have
- motorcycle regiment
- ?
- ?

Rifle corps
- ?
- ?
- ?

Any suggestions?

Depends what you are doing with the unit. Attacking- might need some of the tank SU's to bolster the infantry. And sappers if you are attackcing against heavily fortified Germans. Artillery is of course a big plus but it canbe used by the HQ in range to supprt the attack.

Are the RR Eng's for building fortifications? I'm thinking it's a bit over the top to have 2 per Army HQ if it's for repairing rail.

I'm not an expert on Soviet SU's so I can't help but to answer FS's question I believe any engineer unit can support building fortifications.

Thanks for the replies. The RR SUs are for fort building, I read in other threads that they help with construction otherwise I would have just one RR and 1-2 construction units.

Are sappers of any use in defence and do they help digging in?

Units have construction a value that is used in fortification. Lots of changes regarding fortification in the patch notes. Sappers do fight.
