I'm curious as to how long some of the players have played in terms of game scale time. A decade? Longer?

A decade is a long time? Most of my games go at least 40 or 50 years. At least. A decade isn't even enough time for your first wave of colonies to mature fully.

Seriously, I never look at that part, and I have no idea how long anything takes.

Depends on your game and empire setup.  Start everyone off with a single (harsh) colony with research as slow as the slider will allow (or slower), make the galaxy massive, not just in stars but you can increase the physchal size by a further step in Legends too, lower the prevalence of colonies right down and prepare for a game that may last a century or two, at least in my incapable hands anyway [:D]

On the other hand, invert all those settings and you might get a victory in 10-20 years if you really focus on it [;)]

Do not forget also that years in the game depend of the lenght of your initial planet orbit... ^^

Wow, okay. Very cool. I've started playing DW:RotS and it's the best. A single player game but it feels like the game is teeming with life, and intelligent life at that. Haven't quite gotten everything down in terms of gameplay but loving it a lot. All this, I'm losing sleep, and Legends has still to come out!
