ADB123 -> My AE Christmas Wish List (11/23/2011 2:00:58 AM)

Here is my AE Christmas Wish List. Sure, I know that I've been a Bad Boy, and I'll likely only get a lump of coal in my stocking, but the things that I would love to see modified in AE are as follows: 1 – Weather – even with “Advanced Weather” set to “Off” the Weather is too often Bad over too much of the entire Map. I would like to see the quantity of Bad Weather dialed down by some noticable amount. 2 – Porous CAP – I liked the CAP model in WitP and I would love to see the CAP model in AE moved some noticable amount in the direction of less porosity. 3 – LBA vs CV Death Stars – I would like to see LBA be more willing to attack CV Death Stars. A hundred bombers escorted by a hundred fighters ought to be able to launch against a Death Star, even if the LBA and its escorts are still outnumbered. (And if Porous CAP isn't changed, then a good number of those hundred bombers are likely to get through the Death Star CAP even if badly outnumbered.) 4 – The 3 Month invasion Preparation Rule – I've hated this rule as long as Gary G games have had it, and I don't like it any more now than I did at the beginning. It was a Good Idea when the model was Invade Iwo Jima, but there are so many more bases to invade in AE that it makes no sense any more. 5 – Supply Throttles – Supply travels poorly enough in AE. Adding in extra Supply Throttles makes a bad situation worse. 6 – Shipboard AA – Ships spend so much time in Port getting AA upgrades that it only makes sense that shipboard AA actually work. Backwards Search Patterns were fixed, so why not AA? 7 – Naval Air Attacks at 100 Feet – In early GG Pacwar games Naval Air Attacks at 100 feet were costly on the attacker and not very successful. Now in AE any Bomber trained for a month at 100 feet Attack can sink anything within range. House Rules are not the way to go. Make wave-top attacks, particularly in 1941/1942 hard to launch, hard to fly, and hard to succeed at. (Of course, if Shipboard AA worked, and CAP wasn't so porous, this problem might go away on its own.)
