Categorically, you want to use 64 bit if your system has at least 4GB of RAM.  32 bit won't use more than 3GB at any time.

As for the game itself, I'm not sure there's any real difference, as I've only played AE on 64 bit systems (OS).  It's not terribly demanding on RAM, though the CPU gets a bit of warmup with all the apparent number-crunching going on behind the scenes during the execution phase.

If you have the choice of installing either a 32 or 64 bit OS - which is universally the case with Win7 - and you have the RAM to support it, then go with 64 bit.

Ok, 64 bit it is. Thanks!

Oh, almost forgot:

Do not install anything to the default folder (Program Files (x86)).  When installing new games or programs into Win7 64 bit, ALWAYS create your own installation folders, particularly with games or other apps where you might ever have the need to go in and edit files manually (mods, tweaks, etc.).

The nice thing about WitPAE is that it installer does this for you by creating and installing a "Matrix Games" root directory on your selected drive.

If you want to install the tools you need a 32bit version of Java ...the 64bit version just errors ..that also needs it's own home ..
