Kruos -> Question about research optimisation (11/26/2011 7:38:38 PM)

Hi,

Since DW vanilla, I wonder how the research work. As far as I understand, we have on one side our research output ("Total Research Capacity and Actual Output") and on another side we have an empire maximum research potential ("Total Empire Research Potential").

The galactopedia tells : "you should build enough research stations so that their Total Research Capacity (see below) always exceeds your Total Empire Research Potential."

Questions :
- Does it mean that once you reach your "Total Empire Research Potential" there is no need to build additional research things?
- If yes, it means that the only advantage of the scientists races is that they reach that potential sooner than the others, am I right?
- If no, does it mean only that the efficiency of your research output decrease significantly once that cap reach?

Example : if I have an output of 1000K in weapon, 100K in energy, 100K in Hyper and a max potential of 500K. What is the real production per area?
> 500/100/100? (the cap is just a area limit)
> 416,6/41,6/41,6? (the cap is a total limit)
> other?

Thank you for your help. :)

Thank you Nedrear for the redirection, and thank you for the explanation in your link! Thank you very much! :)

And sorry for not having used the search function, I come quite often here and I was sure that this subject has not been posted, sorry.
