How to capture space ports? (Full Version)

I am playing the Return of the Shakturi expansion pack and in a neighboring system there is an abandoned small space port. I tried to send a ship over to it to capture it like I've done with a couple of abandoned ships I've found but it doesn't seem to work. Is there something different you have to do when capturing stations?

I remember I caught a space port before, I think the exploration ship found it and i captured it. Not sure what ship you are sending there but it might have to be an exploration ship. Try exploring the planted the space port is on. Hope that helps.

I might be wrong but I think you need to colonize the planet.

Nah you don't have to colonize the planet. I know I captured a spaceport on a planet I had nothing on

Nah you don't have to colonize the planet. I know I captured a spaceport on a planet I had nothing on


The planet probably rebelled and switched to your side.

@ soilwork595 i got some space stations from pirates who got scared of me and joined me so i would not kick there ass like i did to other pirates. maybe that how you got them in other systems.(i have no clue how abandon stuff get captured i have yet to experiment with that part of the game)

Hello Daren, hope you're enjoying the game!
You need to send one of your explorer ships to the base. Once there, right-click on the base and
an action menu will appear. Click 'Explore'. When your ship gets close enough, you will get a
notification that tells you've discovered the base and do you wish to investigate it. If you
click yes one of two things will happen. Either the base gets boarded and becomes yours or it
has been booby-trapped and will explode, possibly damaging (or destroying if too close) your ship.
In the options menu you can set your explorers to automatically investigate ships or bases.

Also check to see if it is damaged, because then you have to repair it before you can board it. Same as finding a debris field.

I tried with an exploration ship and it didn't seem to work, so maybe it is damaged, I'll check and try repairing it if it is.
