LordOfChange -> Zooming in and out (11/28/2011 11:29:19 PM)

Hey guys,

I just came back to this game after i discovered that an expansion has arrived. Bed time soon so i just went in it fast to see how it was, and i noticed that zooming in and out still is really choppy and laggy. I seem to remember sometime before last expansion it seemed to go better but i might have false memory.

Is it supposed to be like this? would it not be a really nice feature to have zooming in and out go smooth?

To minimize this adjust your zoom speed setting in 'Options'. With this expansion I have mine on max and it makes it pretty smooth but previously mid range worked best for me.

Also don't forget the zoom buttons on the left of the minimap. Takes you straight to that level.

I was having the same issue and posted about it yesterday. Like feelotraveller said, best thing is to increase
zoom speed to max and try to get past the lag. It doesn't seem to bad for me anymore with zoom speed on high, I've
gotten pretty used to it.

Once you can get past it you'll notice that performance in other areas of the game has greatly been improved and
the game is better than ever.

This has easily been my biggest complaint about DW since it came out.  I've never found a setting that allowed for smooth zooming.  What I don't understand is how all of the other 4x space games are smooth as silk on my machine but DW is a choppy mess.  I've basically resigned myself to the predefined zoom level buttons.  I was really hoping it was going to be addressed as part of Legends.

Though, as frustrating as this is, DW is still my pick for the best 4x space game ever.
