Starfry -> Derelict ship field bug? 1.704 (12/3/2011 10:05:10 AM)

There's something weird going on with derelict ship fields with the 1.704 update. After discovering the field, every constructor ship sent there will repair as normal and one by one, each constructor gets damaged to the point of destruction. Also, the derelict ships seem to disappear and reappear even with a contructor ship repairing it. It feels like there is suppose to be a creature there but it is not showing up on the screen.

I've uploaded the save game file, bogusdebris.dwg, to your FTP server.

Looks familiar - another old bug:

Is it in a storm?

Kayoz -> RE: Derelict ship field bug? 1.704 (12/5/2011 6:47:35 PM)

IIRC, a storm should destroy the derelicts therein.

No because they have high reactive armour.

Hrmm - hadn't noticed that before. I ran a quick test - some ships weather the storm, others go boom. Hadn't noticed that before.

But that's not the case - in his savegame, there's no storm around, and the constructors are being damaged without their shields being touched (storm will hit shields first). As well, the ships he's trying to repair seem to disappear as well.

Stealth kaltors maybe. LOL

Starfry -> RE: Derelict ship field bug? 1.704 (12/5/2011 7:52:08 PM)

A storm would have hurt all the constructors at once, not one by one.

Kayoz -> RE: Derelict ship field bug? 1.704 (12/5/2011 8:50:43 PM)

Indeed -
1. storm would hit shields before damaging the ship. This is not the case - ships are being damaged while shields are intact.
2. storm would affect all ships at once (equally?). This is not the case - ships are being affected independently.
3. there is no storm nearby on the savegame Starfry uploaded.

Yes - looks exactly like the bug I linked above.

Thanks for the savegame. This bug is fixed in the next update.

You will have to start a new game with the update for this change to take effect.
