Just wondering what the requirements are for increasing the number of colony govenors? as so far I have 11 colonies across 6 systems and only 1 govenor who I started with.

It's called luck... though there certainly is a limit to the governors it is not 1 and generating new characters is a event like everything else.

Some races like Humans are more likely to spawn them.

All about luck. I have 4 at the moment as human but 19 colonies.

No there is a factor in the race text for each race and it can be modded.

'random character appearance chance: Minimum=0, Normal=1.0, Maximum=3.0

CharacterRandomAppearanceChanceGovernor ;1.3

Ashberry you know these values are only one number in a random equation? You can increase the chance but you can still have bad luck and gain seven fleet admirals and five generals even though the governor got double the chance.

Got 3 governors in a 15 years game while playing humans. All three appeared with colonisation of new worlds. One of them even became the leader of my empire when the original one was disbanded due to getting lots of negative traits :)

On the other hand - never got any govs while playing weekaruss and any of the bugs.

Playing a long, slow game as the Securans. I have (with their race modifiers in brackets):

1 Ambassador (+50)
1 Agent (+30)
3 Admiral (-40) and 2 who died gloriously in battle
1 General (-40)
2 Scientists
7 Govenors

I have 48 colonies and nearly 200 warships.

What I don't know is how typical this is, what is the 'normal' that the race modifiers apply to. I was expecting to have more Ambassadors and Agents, but I'm still left with the original, now very highly skilled ones. I was going to post this as a potential bug but I'd be interested to see what others are getting first.
