MasterChief -> Request tech info from galactic advisors (12/10/2011 5:31:47 PM)

This is a great day for humanity... still early in our leap to the stars and we have found a planet rich in flora, fauna and resources... but best of all it is the fabled Sol 1 of our ancient myths and the human population has indicated they are joyfully expecting to join our federation!!

Unfortunately, Sol 1's coordinates lie directly between us and the Mortelans (it's outside the SoI of both of our civilizations, but the Morties already have a mining station on a gas planet in the same system.)

Question: We have commissioned a colony expedition and have moved the colony ship up to top priority for construction but this might not be enough. The morties obviously know the planet is there and ripe for conquest. Can we fast track the colony ship project by pumping more money into the program?

If not we should have a program to allow us to do this in the future.

In the mean time we will send a fleet to guard this precious find and will risk war if need be to protect our brethren from lizard subjugation! [sm=fighting0020.gif]

The only way to fast track a colony ship is to make sure it's being built at your largest and most developed colony. Guarding the planet to be colonized with a fleet and being willing to attack other colony ships will keep it available until your colony ship arrives, but could also lead to conflict.

Erik, as I understand it there is currently no way to automate a fleet to guard a planet and have it fire upon any approaching ships. Usually I keep tabs and fire a shot accross the offending colony ship's bow (usually enough to get them to retreat). However, sometimes those dang colony ships sneak in without me noticing, while my fleet watches! Any suggestions?
