Hangman555 -> Asian units question... (11/7/2002 7:57:51 PM)

Greetings all... I've been playing SPWAW for a few months now, pretty much totaly just against my friend via e-mail.

I'm planning on putting together a new scenario, Japanese vs. Chinese. How good would that be?

Thanks ahead of time for the help!

Orzel Bialy -> Little Covered Theaters.... (11/7/2002 8:22:26 PM)

of war tend to be well received by the community, provided they are done well....ie, kept interesting. ;)

Depending on the timeframes of either 37'-41' or 42'-45' you could have two distinctly different Chinese armies. Usually the operations in this theater were manpower (China) versus firepower (Japan)....or at least what I've read of the subject.

Anyway, (so this isn't a long-winded speech) it sounds like an interesting project...good luck with it. :)

Thanks.... we've been playing a hypothetical US-Soviet conflict using the latest period equipment. I'm getting my butt handed to me, so I'm hoping to run something that he won't be quite so knowledgeable about.

So if I use later years, I get Nationalist or Communist china to pick from?

Orzel Bialy -> You get the Nationalists.... (11/8/2002 12:43:51 AM)

the difference is that in the later years they have American equipment to work with...more so than in the early years.

Not sure on the moral and other data...since I have not personally played the Chinese side yet in any campaign.

If you havn't already done so, play Chiang's Nightmare. That is how a Japanese/Chinese scenario should be done.

To me that is one of the top 5 scenarios available.
thanks, John.

Howdy, all! I'm Hangman's erstwhile opponent.
I noticed when buying my initial forces that the Chicoms are pretty short on gear, but long on manpower. My current strategy is to bury the bourgeois Nationalist Chinese under a stack of bodies. :)
And, just for the record, I've only handed him his butt 3 out of 4 playing US vs USSR. :D

I'll definitely be interested in playing some chinese/jap battles. In fact, I'd also appreciate it if anyone can point me in some web resources dealing with this little-mentioned subject, such as description of the major battles in this theater. thanks

The scenario we made didn't work. Does anyone have a decent PBEM scenario that we could use? :D

And of course you whooped me, it's the US vs. USSR in 1949 for crying out loud.... but I've made you sweat each and every time... bwahahahah!!

Hey all, yes I am still around, I just usually lurk...

I am very interested in Asian campaigns, China Vs. Japan in the 1930's seems very interesting...

Perhaps I will look into designing some simple battles after a little research on equipment and troop OOBs of China and Japan during this time...but don't hold your breath! LOL!
